Carroll County JV Softball team hosted Glenvar Monday night at Cavalier Park, and when the dust settled, our Lady Cavaliers owned a 12 – 4 Three Rivers District victory over the Highlanders.
Ava Beamer was in a pitchers showdown with Kherington Jewell from start to finish. Jewell won the strikeout battle 13 to 8, but Beamer had two things working in her favor on her way to the victory.
Better defense and team speed are what made the difference for Carroll County. Bree Campbell reached base in all four at bats, recording three bunt singles. The fourth time was by a way of a hit by pitch, and the speedy second baseman touched home plate three times !
Beamer scattered eight hits and issued just one walk across the seven innings. The righty did a great job keeping the Highlanders off balance, mixing her pitches. Everyone not named Jewell struggled with her offerings as her opposite number went 3 for 3 with two runs scored.
Beamer helped herself by reaching base all four times, including the first time when she reached base after a dropped third strike. The other three trips ended with base hits, and her curtosey runner, Miss Ailey Cochran, also touched home plate three times.
Glenvar High 000 103 0 – 4
Carroll County 023 133 X – 12
Fun takes on the night π :
Ava Beamer on who gets the credit for her advanced level of maturity : Certainly not my Dad….
Ashlynn Smith ( 3 runs scored ) took pride in once again being hit by a pitch.

Getting to meet the Father of my Junior Varsity press box π¦ partner, Kevin Lineberry, was a treat. Poor Kevin was getting grief from both directions as Dad mentioned that Kevin should add some ” Zing ” to his voice when he introduces his granddaughter.
Molly Montgomery was asked about whether or not her Dad was cool or not ? Quick answer was, ” He thinks that he is”
Mom was feeling brave at the moment, so we let Molly answer the same question about her other parental unit ???? Molly delivered once again – ” She thinks she is “
My apologies for my goof while introducing the Lady Cavaliers. Aleigha Beamer was our flex player and playing centerfield…my omission was quickly corrected, but it was a mistake just the same.
Holly Miller made the trip upstairs multiple times to announce the Parker twins. Holly will have her goodbye π to Cavalier Park on Wednesday night.
Terry Warf and Alec Horton will wrap up their first season together on Wednesday evening against James River High School. 5:00 is the scheduled start time for the doubleheader as Varsity plays the Knights in game two !
This group of young Lady Cavaliers have been a fun group to work with and their parents as well !
I’m looking forward to Wednesday evening when we say our goodbyes.
Thank You to Brandi Cochran Mitchell for working the ticket π table and to the folks from the Future Business Leaders of America for working our Concession stand tonight !
