Let’s call 📞 this one : The one about God used a fantasy football trophy 🏆 to lead me to the answer I was desperately looking for… Welcome 🙏 back to the Show, Mr John Galle!

My problem as of late is that I simply can not keep up with the pace that life is presenting but in the same breath, it’s too difficult to hand something off to someone who I don’t have a history with.

A few weeks back, Lin and I  were finishing up a non-stop loop up in Shenandoah Valley when we stopped ✋️by to see 👀 our long-time friends, Barb and Pappy Meade, as the final detour.

Pappy asked for a small favor as he was looking to get the trophy 🏆from his Fantasy football league he runs down to John Galle in Salem.

I smiled 😃 at the thought of having a reason to cross paths with young John Galle once again. I had a front row seat 💺to the growth of John, so yes, I scooped up the trophy and headed south.

The seventh of the seven books 📚 is going to be a non-functional, faith-based book about God using his powers to help a challenged individual reach remarkable levels in life. There are no spoilers here, but everything has to fall into place perfectly, including the need to finish the fifth and six books before turning 100% of the focus towards the ultimate prize.

Nancy Sorrell has a completed book five, it just needs to be produced. John Galle, pictured above with the youngest of his three kiddos, has agreed to take the handoff on book six !!!!

Diamonds 💎 are a Girls Best Friend and the Fellas like them too : Fifty years of feel-good stories that have been collected by me during life’s journey.

The idea 💡 of this book was hatched in the brain 🧠 of a 12 year old underachieving student was instructed to read 📚 a book by one of his teachers.

Mac Davis ( not the country singer, different one ) wrote a book titled ” Great Sports Humor ” and when you aren’t the brightest cookie in the box, it seemed like an easy read.

Mac just collected a series of stories, which had no natural ties to them and created a fun read. My stories are all feel good stories about people and events that I’ve been blessed to encounter over the decades.

Galle provided the cover photo 📸 for Book #2 (Strasburg High School )) and later penned one of the better reads about my life that has been written.

Carroll County High School, Page County High School, West Virginia Tech University are the three lead categories, with the fourth one being Editors choice.

Now, it should make sense why I couldn’t just pass this off to an unknown quantity.

John Galle is OneofUs.Care person, through and through, and I’m so proud to know him.

There is no rush to get this done as a young, hard-working father of three doesn’t need added pressure.

The fresh out of college writer is all grown up now and is an editor !

One thing in life that you can not fake is caring about others. Each of these four matches matter here, and there are completely different reasons why they do.

The MS match at Madison County involves two of our nine grandchildren, and that degree of caring should be self explained. The team plays on the same nights 🌙 that Carroll County High School does, so if we aren’t playing on The Hill, the option is to head North.

Eight hours in a car 🚗 today would be a serious reach, being that Lin has an appointment this morning.

Too far replaces too hard.

Why does one care about Ferrum College at Lees Mcrae ?

Easy one there, for me anyway.

Marion Harris was one of the first people, six years ago, who tried to welcome me to the area. You remember things like that and pay it forward !

All 5’2 “of Half Pint Harris will make the trip south of the border today, and they will remain to the south for the rest of the week ( next 3 matches ). This will create a boat 🚢 load of challenges for her parents.

This is just a cool add-on to this story. While I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Jones, I’m a Big Fan of the young lady to his left.

This is the perfect Segway to the matches that will be played tonight over in Bassett.

Yesterday afternoon, I wrote a story about the long week that our Lady Cavaliers were facing this week. It wasn’t until after the match in Dublin last night that I realized that the lone ” off ” day of Wednesday is actually the night of Powder Puff football.

Nikki Heflin and Kelly Holderfield will coach up our 3-2 JV team tonight in a gymnasium that will include our parents and the varsity team.

Immediately following that match, our V team will look to rebound from a night where we outscored Pulaski County but fell 3-1. The energy in the building last night 🌙 certainly helped the home team, and it will be interesting to see 👀 what the folks over in Bassett bring to the table.

It’s just before noontime, and it’s time to choose. Monte Hall style, will it be Door 🚪 #1, Door 🚪#2, or Door 🚪#3/4 ????

In the grand scheme of things, I don’t over value the fact that I am in a visiting gym. It’s not the same as holding the microphone on The Hill. But when it’s your job to Care, it matters to me.

In every gym in this equation, there will be sharp young ladies who have committed their time, coaches without shoe contracts, and parents who are oh so proud of their kiddos (or grandchildren )!

At the end of the day, that’s what it should be about !

1st TO, Falcons leading 19 – 13 on the strength 💪 of the serving by their #4.

Set #1 goes to the visitors, 25 – 18 [5:01]. Luray trailed 8-1 early but rallied back to 22-18 before the Falcons closed out the set.

Early TO in 2nd set, down 9-2 as Central once again opens with two big servers.

Set #2 ends 25 – 11 [5:22]…

5:27 – Start of the 3rd set….

15 – 9 for the Falcons to close out the night at 5:40.

Charleston Southern is holding their own down at Cameron in the first set.
We interrupt our VB coverage for 60 minutes of rec league soccer ⚽️.

Otto and Adam have both put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 early for the Hokies, coached by our Son, Christopher. Melody enjoys playing on a team coached by her father 👨.

We are playing against the Tar Heels and still lead, 2-0.

6:54 pm – Halftime, leading 2-0 !

Duke holds on 25 – 23 in the second set, lead 2-0 ! CSU came to play, though.

Tar Heels convert a penalty kick to cut ✂️ the lead to 2-1.

Hokies 2, Tar Heels 1 until Adam from deep makes the final 3-1 @ 7:23 pm

Duke completed the 3-0 sweep, but they had to work for it. That leaves the Varsity Lady Cavaliers VB match.

Carroll County Varsity Lady Cavaliers finished off their sweep, 3-0 at Patrick County, and will return home 🏡 with a shinny 7-1 mark on the season !!!

Bonus Note 📝 from Mr DeHaven : CCMS football 🏈🏈🏈 pitched a shutout over at Galax, 36 – 0 !

Carroll County goes 3-0 when you count the football. Duke VB won their match, and we split up here in Luray !

Fun night 🌙 and now tomorrow belongs to Half Pint Harris and Ferrum College !

Note : I would happily make space for the CCMS VB if we were to hear from someone over there.

7 – 1, and now we can focus on Glenvar invading The Hill on Thursday night 🌙!

72 hours of volleyball 🏐 begins tonight, and we will have it at five very different levels & in five separate Gymnasiums !

Tuesday evening will involve matches at Luray Middle School 🏫, Duke University, and two at Patrick County High School in Stuart.

Wednesday night, will see 👀 D2 Ferrum College play a home match at 6: 30.

Thursday night, matches will be held at both Signal Knob Middle School ( Strasburg ) and on The Hill as the Glenvar Highlanders make their annual trek down from Salem,

A total of eight matches will be played in just over 48 hours, and the connection to each one will be considerably different. In two of the matches, it will be about playing the role of host for both Nikki Heflin and Cindy Edwards. Thursday night will be extra fun for me because of the Glenvar – Carroll County match-up ! It will be the fifth of 10 nights 🌙 spent in the home gym this fall.

But there is plenty to keep an eye 👁👀 on between now and then !

In Luray, Virginia, two of these young ladies will be making their Middle School 🏫 debut for the Bulldogs ! Both Melody and Ana will be in action 🎬 for the first time on a school team ➕️ it turns out that Madison, the youngest one, has a soccer match immediately after in which she will be coached by our Son, Chris. !

Peter Muhlenberg will make the trek across Massanutten Mountain ⛰️ tonight with the match starting at 4:30 !

Down in Durham, North Carolina, Duke University finally gets to play inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Lady Blue Devils went 4-1 over two weekends on the road and will host Charleston Southern at 6:00 pm

Tonight, the Lady Cavaliers will play their first actual road match of the season over in Patrick County ( Stuart). The varsity team has played two home scrimmages, two home matches, and then a five match marathon over at Patrick Henry – Glade Springs.

Our team sits at 6-1 overall after their second place finish in the Rebel Classic !

Our Junior Varsity team sits at 1-1 and should be hungry for playing tonight after spending time at the Flea Market parking cars 🚗 to raise $$$$.

Wednesday night at 6 :30 pm, Half Pint Harris, pictured above with her two sisters, will once again take to the court at Schwartz Gym.

Francis Marion University ( Florence, SC) is a very familiar school name from our time spent down at USC – Aiken. The Lady Panthers sit at 3 – 1 on the freshman season for Miss Harris.

Now you know the eight matches and the connection to them. The amount of coverage will be directly connected to receiving some assistance from others, but it will be a fun attempt just the same. Patrick County High School gym is where cellphone service goes to die, so anything from there will be delayed a smidgen.

Let’s play volleyball 🏐, or in this case, let’s watch and announce volleyball.
