Why did Trenton Newman cross the Boulevard ? To spend five good minutes in the middle of an OneofUs.Care moment !

The Goods !

Trenton Newman has been a resident of The Hill for a few years now, and to say that the young man has made the most of his time is like saying that Vickey Ritchie likes Halloween πŸŽƒ.

We invited Trenton and his family over to Cavalier Park for a pre-game celebration in honor of the stunning four years he spent at Carroll County High School.

Just page one of some of the accomplishments that belong to Mr Newman !

We were up in the press box πŸ“¦, collectively trying hard to correctly pronounce Summa Cum Laude

When Trenton is not studying, wrestling, or running, he can be found at the local dragstrip revving his engine.

I must give credit to Head Coach Rick Nester for coming up with the idea πŸ’‘ of having Trenton’s little sister catch the Ceremonial First Pitch !

Maci headed to home plate and did her very best to attempt to catch the overhand effort.

We created a solid five minutes in trade for a young man who represented our high school and community across four great years !

Athletics, Academics, and the ability to smile while striving to be the best version of himself everyday, well except the day that the tricky Callie Harris (water) gunned him down in the trunk of a car πŸš—.

The world 🌎 could use a few more Trenton Newman types running around !

For an evening, Trenton Newman was our King 🀴 of The Hill !

Jay Neal Award for 2026 goes to long-time βŒ›οΈ friend and OneofUs.Care partner, Mr Ron Cochran

The first of our six mini-celebrations took place on Friday afternoon at Pizza πŸ• Perfect !

The Jay Neal lifetime achievement award went to Ron Cochran of Omega Office 🏬 and Supply on Main Street. From the first time in the shop, six years ago, to our final project ( this year’s Track πŸ‘£ and Field poster ), Mr Cochran has gone the distance for us and our non-profit organization !

Finding a fellow ” Good Guy ” like Ron allowed Lin and I to accomplish so much more.

We had three guests stop βœ‹οΈ by or two βž•οΈ plus our waitress, a young lady who is one of hundreds of younger folks that grew up with the long-time coach, game official, and shop owner as somewhat of a crazy uncle.

Ryan McCafferty is our new friend over at The Carroll News. The young sports writer is new in town as I was six years ago, so treating the new guy to a celebratory lunch was just the right thing to do.

I will miss the excitement of our banquet for sure, but still having the ability to honor πŸŽ– this group of individuals will dull the sadness.

Our final logo, the dual one, was just one of the numerous projects we worked on through the years.
The Jay Neal Award is named to honor Mr Neal, who is one of two people that watched out for us across the years. Jay is now retired and enjoying running his baseball team, the Strasburg Express.

Lady Cavaliers Softball celebrated Emma Harman and followed it up with a 12 – 2 victory over Radford High on Friday night πŸŒ™.

Madison Coleman led the offense with three hits and 3 RBI, βž•οΈ Addie Greene pitched a gem πŸ’Ž as Carroll County High defeated Radford 12-2 in five innings.

Line Score

Greene went the distance and contributed two base hits, including a 2-run triple in the monster sized third inning.

Carroll County led 4-1 heading into the bottom of the third, and the lead 🎈ballooned to 11-1 after 11 batters took their swings. Brooke Webb started the rally with a walk, and Holly Miller followed her with a single. Emma Harman laid down a sacrifice bunt and managed to beat the throw to first.

Raylee Goins and Bayleigh Allen picked up RBIs, and one out later, Coleman drilled a two run single. Greene lined her triple, and Laiken Burnett finished the raΔΊy with a single.

Fast forward to the bottom of the fifth inning with the Lady Cavaliers needed one run to send the crowd home two innings early. Brooke Webb, supporting a hairdo by Harman, crushed a ball to the left field fence. Flirting with a walk-off home run, Webb settled for a double off the wall 🧱. One out later, Goins sent everyone home with an RBI single after fouling off five pitches.

Carroll County will enjoy a short break before returning to Cavalier Park on Wednesday night to host James River in the regular season finale.
