βž•

Normal tournament craziness. All Around lost in round one. 58-53

English and math playing now. Math is without Ethan Edwards and coach McMillian tonight – both out with the flu.

Here in Luray its game time between the Jayhawks and the Terps.

MACC is winding down its season and we have been fortunate to have Mrs. Shannon Dalton as our guide.

Wishing speedy recoveries to those that have fallen ill.

Coaches and Team meeting ahead of Tip. Our Son Coaches the Jayhawks!

Game starts at 6:20 pm

Carroll is having a stressful night on the humanities wing. All-Around went down to the last question and ended with a Connor Beasley neg to lose to George Wythe.

Granddaughter Melody !

Carroll English, seeded 3rd, also came down to the last question and despite a solid run by Trenton Newman, Julia Largen, and Jack Wright, the last question still has us all scratching our head and left Carroll with a loss to Bland.

I’ll try to get a report from math and science.

They are on the other side of the building.

End 2 End Action 🎬

Social Studies has a lead at the half. 50-35

Social Studies is going to break the streak of tournament luck on our side of the brackets, 70-38 !

6:53 – Second Half of the Game

90-13 for Science.

45-15 Math.

βž•

Readers might enjoy knowing that science always breeds Connors. Here’s alumni Connor Blankenship, coach Rachelle Rasco, Connor Mayes, and Connor Beasley.

Double Connors is the lucky charm. Math is also having some alumni visitors.

Social Studies lost their round to Galax, but punched their card to SuperMACC at Blacksburg next week by being the tournament runner ups.

Science had a solid defeat of Galax to make them both season and tournament champions. The next set of stage photos are finals from science

Science, math, and social studies will all play at the east v west SuperMACC tournament next Thursday at Virginia Tech.

The math team went home after semi finals, so we’ll have to present their season medals to them tomorrow..

Thank You so much!

Happy Leap Year Day, 2024 ! MACC coverage later βž• a few tidbits.

Today is February 29th, which happens to take place every four years. I have never known someone that has 2/29 for a Birthday πŸŽ‚ but if I did, my first question would be do you have fun with it or is it just another thing?

Today we will go inside the MACC event, curtosey of Shannon Dalton. Their season is starting to wind down now and the team has enjoyed a great deal of success πŸ‘. The action 🎬 will get started this evening and we will share it as it happens !

Today is a historic day for us as it pushes the current streak out to 200 straight ! One of the goals is to wake ⏰ up each day and try to improve someones day with a small piece of Positivity. Today we enter the land of crooked numbers on the scoreboard!!

Page 6 of the Sports section of this week’s Carroll News contains the first half of the story on the Cochran Family πŸ‘ͺ. Now that Part 1 has seen the light of day, hopefully we can conclude the story by telling it through the eyes of the Family πŸ‘ͺ members !

Spring is on Deck and here’s our lineup card for coverage of our 11 teams. We have a few spots still available!

Head Coach Shawn Montgomery will be keeping us up to speed (Track term) on both his Boys πŸ‘¦ and Girls πŸ‘§ Track & Field teams.

Greg Talley will be covering his Boys Tennis 🎾 program with a level of flair that only he can.

I will filling the pages with both Varsity Softball and JV Baseball coverage along with Kevin Burress and Velvet Leonard.

Marion Harris is our Soccer ⚽️ guru and he will be on top of the Pitch coverage for the Girls πŸ‘§ Varsity only in addition to keeping up with both the Varsity and JV Boys πŸ‘¦ when he can track them down.

That leaves us with Girls Tennis 🎾 and both of our Baseball ⚾️ teams. On the Baseball side of things Coach DeHaven keeps in touch with the results but if anyone else involved with the Baseball side of things wishes to submit pics or thoughts we would welcome πŸ™ it.

We would also love to have a connection to the Girls Tennis 🎾 program pop-up.

Anyone out there that wants to have a say in the amount of coverage their program receives should let us know.

Tuesday Lunch with our Wrestling Coach West Long and the 🍎 of his πŸ‘

There will not be an off season for our Wrestling Coach as he tries to build up his program now that year one of his regime is in the books πŸ“š.

Most of the programs that fall under the umbrella πŸŒ‚ of Carroll County High School come with a long existing “Farm System”, if you will. The Wrestling program has lacked such a feeder system for quite some time now. That’s going to change soon enough if Coach Long has his way.

“In every sport you need to find away to get people involved at an early age,” said Long. “Wrestling is no different, we have to build through our youth.”

Step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ one in that process is getting underway right now with a youth program being held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 until 7:15 in the Wrestling room at the Middle School. Our door πŸšͺ is always open to Coach Long as we believe that he has the toughest Coaching job in the County and its our goal to assist him in anyway possible !

The youth group is simply step 1 of 100 on the long and winding road that Long is trying hard to map out. Coach has the knowledge of his sport, the burning desire to succeed and he has a Map ! Here’s hoping for the Best !
