In the words of our Girls 👧 Soccer coach : Adrienne Harris McGuire takes us inside the HUGE victory at Radford High !

Varsity finished the sweep of Radford on Monday night winning 3-1! We had a bit of a rocky start to the game giving up a goal less than 5 minutes into the game. The girls did not give up and responded right away putting pressure on Radford’s defense. Around 10 minutes later Alisia Torres Lopez found Callie Harris to tie it up 1-1. With 4 minutes left in the first half Savannah Swecker was driving with the ball into the box for a goal scoring opportunity but was taken out by a Radford defender right before she was able to shoot.

This awarded us a penalty kick that Callie finished to put us up 2-1 going into halftime. The second half was very physical. Fifteen minutes into the second half Yeili Urbina found Savannah over the top to stretch our lead to 3-1. Our defense did a great job of not giving Radford many opportunities after the first one they scored.

Our defense included Jackie Arellano Torres, Genesis Harmon, Elena McKenzie, and Aliza Hardy. All 4 of these girls played a great game. The girls finished out the game very strong in a very intense atmosphere. Overall, this was another awesome win for the team!! It’s only the second time the Varsity Girls have swept Radford in a season since we have been in the district for 9 years.

Congratulations 🎊 Coach and players !
