We are now on the cusp of history involving the soccer ⚽️ firm of Harris, Harris, and Harris. Now we just need a little ” help”….

Callie ” Half Pint ” Harris put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 twice last night up in Dublin, her 39th and 40th of her Lady Cavalier career. When you couple it with 39 assists, our feisty senior is now on the edge of a feat that will quite possibly stand the test of time.

To tell the story correctly, we have to go way back in time to when a young Marion Harris swept Shelia Bunn of her feet. The couple married and proceeded to have three daughters, each raised with an equal balance of appreciation for education and a love for soccer.

The three young ladies learned the game at the feet of their soccer coaching Dad 👨 but don’t think that for a minute that they didn’t learn how to compete from their 👩Mom.

Callie still needs one more ” helper ” to reach the 40-40 club and join a group that could absolutely be a one of a kind forever. See, while millions of young children play the sport, just not sure that we will ever see three sisters play on the same pitch and then become the first three players in a Schools history to net 40 goals and dish out 40 assist across a high school career.

If we want to push the story further into the category of one in a million, let’s have the oldest daughter return from her college playing career ( Emory and Henry ) to coach the youngest one for her final two seasons on The Hill.

Now, we know the story about not counting your chickens before they hatch, and the number of games left for the Lady Cavaliers are dwindling. The next time the team is slated to play is Wednesday over at Floyd County, and then Friday night, they are set to celebrate Senior Night. We still need an assist, and sometimes, setting up a teammate can be trickier than burying a shot in the back of the net.

The good news is that Half Pint is surrounded by other talented players on the front line, and whether it happens on Wednesday or Friday or sometime next week, remember that when it does, you will be witnessing history, one of a kind history.

It would be selfish to want it to happen on Friday night, in front of a large Senior Night crowd, and with me holding the 🎤

I’m hoping that in the opening minutes of the first half over in Floyd, Harris will find fellow Senior captain Savannah Swecker or Jacqueline Arellano-Torres on their way to the net. The moment is much greater than the celebration.

What does it take to score 40 goals in addition to dishing out 40 helpers ? The ability to drive the ball with precision is just the starting point. Having the ability to read the pitch and the movement of the players around you, both wearing your colors and those who are bent on stopping you.

Third, you have to have quality teammates, and the youngest Harris daughter has that in spades ♠️. The team is on a noticeable upswing, and the future looks bright 🌞.

The fourth and final requirement is having a coach who has the ability to make sure that you are properly motivated to give 110% every time you lace up your spikes. Another way to say it is someone who can push your buttons. Being that the three sisters have spent their entire lives striving to be the best possible version of themselves, Big Sis has had access to those buttons for quite some time now.

40 – 40 members up until this time are Adrienne Harris McGuire and Natalie Harris. Even as proud of the moment that Dad 👨 is right now, Marion was quick to point out that KK Newman would have easily qualified for a membership card in the club had she not lost a season to Covid.

It was our new sportswriter at the Carroll News, Ryan, who pointed out that I might need to update one of the three nicknames I gave the Sisters after first getting to know them years ago.

Callie will always be Half Pint, a reference to the smallest daughter on Little House on the Prarie.

Middle daughter, Natalie, will always be ” Jan ” from the Brady Bunch.

Fresh out of E & H, I asked Adrienne Harris if she would be comfortable with me calling her ” Our Future ” ?

Ryan is picking things up at a rapid pace here on The Hill. How can I tell ? He mentioned that it might be more appropriate to call Coach Harris / McGuire, ” The Present “.

Belonging to the Soccer ⚽️ 40-40 Club, for the Harris Girls 👧 it’s just a 👪 family thing!
