Going with the Mrs to enjoy a thick steak at a local eatery ?

Not so much, the correct way to enjoy the moment ? By preparing the field for the Middle School Softball team on Saturday.

Addie Greene pitched a complete game as the Junior limited the Highlanders to just three hits. The righty struck out four while only issued one base on balls.

Carroll County completed the sweep of the season series after winning 20-2 back on April 7th at Glenvar. The Highlanders have improved quite a bit over the past three weeks, but the Lady Cavaliers backed Greene with double digits in the hit column.

CCHS scored all seven runs across the first three innings with the top of the lineup doing the bulk of the heavy lifting 🫴. Both underclassmen Greene and Natalie Burress reached base in all four at bats. Burress finished with 3 hits, two runs scored, and two RBI. Greene finished with two hits, two walks, two runs scored, and one RBI.

In addition to the 10 hits, the Highlanders were charged with five misques. A number of Lady Cavaliers made great contact and reached base multiple times. Senior Bayleigh Allen touched first all four times but ended the night with zero base hits. Fellow Senior Laiken Burnett reached three times with one base hit and one run scored.

Senior Madison Coleman ended her night by going 2 of 3 with a run scored. The event was a success in large part to the number of folks that showed up early in hopes of making the day as memorable as possible !

Ryan from The Carroll News was on The Hill with us tonight, meaning that our local newspaper 📰 should have a game story and art 🎨 in the coming edition !

All said, the night was great from start to finish, and a great lead-in to Prom Night.

Monday night, it will be back to business for the team as Galax makes its annual trek across US-58 to The Hill for a JV / Varsity twin bill. Terry Warf and his JV team will play their home contest against the Highlanders at the end of the season.
