What a difference one month can make ! The Burcham Bunch left the Star 🌟 City with a 2-1 victory over Northside !!

Back on March 24th at Bill Worrell Field on The Hill, the Burcham Bunch had an off day against a talented Northside Vikings team. When the Cavalier fans went home that night, they were looking for the license plate of the truck 🚚 that ran them over.

Fast forward to Wednesday night, and Peyton (D1) Spencer was once again his dominant self.  The problem was that the Vikkings had a stud of their own on the mound, which led to a scoreless game at the end of the seventh inning.

Connor Reece plated two runs in the top of the eighth inning by hitting one where they ain’t, and by the time that Northside had regained control, both Blake Reed and Chanson Rakes had touched home plate.

Northside would answer back with one run in the bottom of the frame, but Spencer would finish what he started.

Head Coach Casey Burcham sounds like he might like to keep the youngster around !

” I’m running out of words to describe Peyton Spencer.  He was dominant and in control of the game from the first inning.  I love the fight these guys have, and I couldn’t be more proud of their effort and want to this afternoon.”

Natalie Harris has reached the end of the road after a decade of representing her school with a combination of class and toughness !

From Middle School 🏫 to High School and finally the campus of Emory & Henry, Natalie Harris has laced them up in a number of sports across the past decade. Basketball, Volleyball 🏐, Soccer ⚽️,  Swimming πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ and LaCrosse are just some of the stops βœ‹οΈ along the way.

Each school 🏫 and each sport received 110% of what the middle Harris daughter had to  give her coaches and teammates. The future is bright for this one !

Tonight’s scoreboard for our Cavaliers !

Varsity Baseball ⚾️ picks up a huge win in the Star 🌟 City, 2-1 over Northside Vikings in extra innings !

Junior Varsity Baseball ⚾️ protected The Hill, defeating the visiting Vikings 19-1 in five innings !

Boys πŸ‘¦ Tennis 🎾 battled until the end, falling just short at home, 5-4 to Galax.

Girls πŸ‘§ Tennis 🎾 fell at Galax 9-0 against a talented Maroon Tide squad.

Natalie Harris reached the end of her competitive playing days at Emory and Henry.

Three stories to follow, including a full blown gamer on the JV victory, more on the Burcham Bunch having a BIG night πŸŒ™ and goodbye to Natalie Harris are all in the hopper !

Tonight is about Adam Nester and his Nester Nine, his family, and playing under the lights at Bill Worrell Field

Adam Nester is an assistant coach on the staff of Casey Burcham, and his number one responsibility is the top spot on the Junior Varsity Baseball ⚾️ coaching staff.

Like Coach Burcham, Adam is in his second season at his current job after the changes that took place after Mr Kevin DeHaven moved from the dugout to the administration side of The Hill.

Nester is the son of fellow Laurel Fork residents, Rick and Donna Nester, as well as husband to Kayla Goins Nester and proud papa to three wonderful children.

Adam does a great job at keeping us in the loop after each game he coaches. We receive the game changer recap each time out, and if we are lucky, Mom πŸ‘© will send us a pic or two to brighten the story up !

The name of the Nester Nine Baseball team comes from the respect for the family name and the fact that nine players are on the diamond πŸ’Ž when the lineup card has been filled out.

I will head down to Bill Worrell Field shortly with no particular plan except to help an up and coming young coach in any way possible. It might be chasing foul balls if that is where the void is, just making sure to say – I see πŸ‘€ you, respect your effort and know the sacrifices you make for the youth of Carroll County on a regular basis !
