Chef Boyarcushman, I mean Coach Nick🤣 is treating our CCMS Lady Cavaliers to a Pizza Party this evening to mark the completion of their 2026 softball season. These Ladies have had a fun season. A BIG THANK YOU is in order for both CCMS Coaches Nick Cushman and Deana Burcham for all of their hard work and dedication to our Cavalier Softball Program 😀🥎 👍🏻 You guys are the foundation for the CC Softball Program, as our Cavalier Softball Ladies All start with you, and You Guys Certainly Rise to the occasion!❤️💪

Personal note 📝 – it was fun to end up announcing five of their games this season and I would like to add my personal Thank You to the dynamic duo for their energy !

Our Saved by the Bell 🔔: The Cavalier College Years department received some great news this morning 🌄 !!!

Pierre Curtis first hit my radar when I watched him play college basketball 🏀 up at James Madison University back in the day. Curtis had a solid four year run playing for the Dukes, and now he’s just getting started on building a women’s program down in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.

Our Alyssa Ervin is back to playing the game in the manner those of us on The Hill are accustomed to, and part of the credit certainly goes to her new coach down at Furman University.

The smile is back, and so is the intensity level ! Year #1 of Ervin – Curtis was a rousing success, and that happened while they were building a trust together. This coming year could be one for the books !

Next time I cross paths with her former Travel Coach, I need to ask Ed what it was like the first time they talked in person after she outgrew him ?

Hez Mejia made his family proud last night 🌙, heck, he made me proud, too, as the Junior put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 FOUR times in the 4-3 victory over Galax!

” Four Goal Haul – its like a HAT 👒 TRICK went to the buffet and got seconds !”

Having spent parts of two back to back days in the press box 📦 with this impressive young man earlier this season, Hez jumped off the page in just how mentally sharp he is. Anytime a teenager can impress me to that degree, I immediately think about his or her parents and how well they raised their child !

Hopefully, some folks on The Hill will cross paths with #13 today, smile in his direction, and say, “I heard what you did last night !”

Last night 🌙 we said Thank You to a very kind soul, known here as Gabby’s Girl 👧 and because Velvet Leonard is who she is, we have photos 📸 to go with the recap.

After the final out of our 6-1 setback last night, Madison Coleman made the trip upstairs to pick up her senior note cards from her teammates, and it allowed me the opportunity to ask the precious young  Lady if she smiled during her ceremony ? The answer was a quick yes and it came with another smile !

  This year, we are saying goodbye to six seniors, and the personal goal during their brief moment in the Sun is to make a personal connection that will make it more memorable for the family.

Tonight, we will conclude our series with Emma Harman, and there are two things about Emma that can be noted. First, her achievements in her Dance 💃 career and second, she accounted for the very first run scored on the recently added scoreboard at Cavalier Park.

Thursday night was about Madison and her level of relationships with both God and her family. The only way that the moment could have been better was if her brother Logan had arrived to the game in time.

Over the past few years, we have watched Madison grow up to become a confident young lady, one that is so comfortable with herself that she is about to embark on a Mission trip to the far side of the World 🌎.

Her father is as quiet as her Mom 👩 is personable, and together, they raised quite a kiddo ! Hopefully, they were smiling as well…

It’s time for our final regular season Friday, and we have six contests on tap on The Hill ! Three different types of double headers to be played & three seniors to be celebrated…

The soccer ⚽️ doubleheader is the one that might be considered ” normal ” as Glenvar comes to town with both their JV and Varsity squads to challenge our Cavaliers.

Baseball ⚾️ is set to host a JV only doubleheader with Martinsville as the Bulldogs didn’t have a Varsity team this season. The Nester Nine will play both ends of the twin bill.

The softball doubleheader is unique in that it involves both JV and Varsity, but our Lady Cavaliers will face separate opponents. Martinsville against the JV and Radford against the Varsity.

Emma Harman is the Senior of the Night at Cavalier Park !

Track 👣 and Field will hold their Senior Night celebration in between the soccer games as we celebrate both Trenton Newman and Amelia Dalton !
