Today is Day 34 of 100 in regards to Lin being away for medical reasons, and if there’s anything positive about it, it’s the extra time to help others.
Varsity Softball and Boys Junior Varsity Soccer β½οΈ βοΈ Varsity Soccer games were going to be on the agenda tonight, but now those three have been washed out and will be in need of a new home.
The Soccer has been pushed to tomorrow, and Softball is still searching for a new plan.
Girls π§ Soccer is still on up at Radford.
Corey Williams and Friends Day will have to wait, but hopefully, it will not be too long !
We now know that the number of Seniors on Friday night for Track π£ and Field is two, Trenton Newman and Amelia Dalton.

This one might take a minute to bring full circle π΅ but it matters to me, so here goes.
Friday night is set for a Boys π¦ Soccer doubleheader against Glenvar ( insert Indiana Jones saying – Glenvar, why does it have to be Glenvar?) If you don’t know the ” Snakes ” reference just assume that the joke was funny and move on.
The other item on the docket is two more Senior Day celebrations for the Boys Track and Field team as well as the Girls team.

The number of people that care about this ” add-on ” is somewhat limited, but I’m one of them, so there’s that.
Six seniors that belonged to Rick Nester were followed by six that belonged to Forrest Johnson and then six more from Adrienne Harris McGuire. Each of those festivities were hosted in front of their home crowds and were the focal point of the evening. I consider it an honor to orchestrate the message for all 18, but especially for one Samuel (Sammy ) Ibarra (E-bar- ahh) – Casimiro ( Cas-ah- Mere-Oh).
For those of you who don’t know Sammy, he is what I call a Personality. For starters, he doesn’t fit the mold of your typical soccer player, but this young man doesn’t let his size limit the zeal he shows on the Pitch. The young man is not only bigger than his teammates but he’s bigger than life itself.
The afternoon of the ceremony, I arrived two hours early for the sole purpose of both reading the information provided and building the framework for the script. Yes, to do something to meet the ridiculous standards I hold myself to every day, I have to do that level of prep.
Sammy’s sheet was as close to blank as possible, and because I was there early enough, I could ask Forrest Johnson to get me two minutes with Sammy.
Sammy smiled after his two minutes and headed down to join his teammates. He had a more enjoyable walk across the Track with his parents later that evening, Mom Juana (Jaun-ah) Casimiro and Dad, Eugene Ibarra.
Mission Accomplished !
What does this have to do with Trenton Newman ?

Young Mr Newman, pictured above on signing day, is a poster child for what you want from a graduating π Senior. Wow, has this young man had a year to remember, and he has two sets of parents that are equally proud of his accomplishments.
Operating like someone who has been placed in the witness protection program, Newman has been active for nine months, but few would have noticed.
Basketball dominates the winter season and Trenton Wrestles for Coach Long.
Spring belongs to Baseball βΎοΈ and Newman competes for Shawn Montgomery in Track and Field.
Newman is smart enough to represent our school π« on multiple academic teams and does so with grace and a smile under the guidance of Shannon Dalton and friends.
In the fall, where football rules the world π, Newman was busy running Cross Country for Coach Montgomery.
I want Friday night to POP π for Newman and his fellow Track π£ and Field Seniors because they deserve no less than our best !
To accomplish that, I would need some assistance from a number of people.
Just found out that Softball has joined the list of scratched events for tonight. But hey, that still leaves Boys π¦ Soccer β½οΈ, for now anyway.
As the late great Paul Harvey would say – ” Now you know the rest of the story!”

Thursday, May 28th is the date for the Region 2B Softball tournament quarterfinals. Alan Knight and his Lady Panthers team are currently holding down the #4 spot.
That day, #3 will host #6 & #4 will host #5, meaning if things stay the same, Page County High School Softball would host Fort Defiance at Alan Knight Field.
To say that I want to make that drive π and announce that game for Alan and his team is an understatement. But there is a great deal of ball that has to be played between now and then. We need to keep in mind that the Region only takes the top 6 teams, so the spot is far from guaranteed. Today, the team is scheduled to play the Class 3 runner-up from last season, Turner – Ashby, and that game is pending the weather.

Fingers crossed π€!

There is no game today working on a make-up day – Coach Nester
