Six Seniors with an average GPA of over 4.00, and oh yeah, they won another baseball game tonight at Bill Worrell Field and celebrated with Strawberry Shortcake πŸ°

” Great team effort tonight.  Peyton was dominant again on the mound.  Chanson led the game off with a double, I thought our approach at the plate was tremendously better than the first few games of the season.

Bryce had a huge RBI single in the 6th to keep the lead at 3 runs.  Couldn’t be more proud of these guys tonight.”

Thank you, Coach Burcham !

Getting to spend 15 quality minutes with part of the Burcham Bunch prior to warm-ups led to the fun photo πŸ“Έ of his senior class. The group defines what it is to be a student athlete, and they appear to respect the game and their coach !

The strawberry shortcake 🍰 part of the story made me smile. A few years back, when Softball coach Rick Nester had a team that flirted with double figures in regards to seniors, I suggested letting each player have their own version of Senior Night and then have the big one at the end.

Burcham actually improved on the idea πŸ’‘by letting the player choose his favorite dessert 🍨. Tonight, it was Bryce Cochran Night, hence the strawberry shortcake ! I had hoped to circle back by, but baseball ⚾️ finished up before softball .

Peyton Spencer was dealing once again, and the zero in the error column tells you that his defense had his back !

The Nester Nine had a fun ride back from Floyd County after boarding the Bus 🚌 with another W !!!

As Sherry Slaughter does to the east, Maleah Neely has dual citizenship from the west. Any day that includes a Ms Neely smile is a great day !

Maleah, Marion Harris, and Adrienne Harris McGuire. Two shiny examples of what the combination of a CCHS and E & H education will get you !

Maleah Neely returned to The Hill yesterday afternoon as a member of the coaching staff of the Galax Middle School 🏫 Soccer team.

Neely starred on four straight Cundy Edwards led Carroll County High School Volleyball 🏐 teams before taking her love for the game over to Emory and Henry.

To give you an idea πŸ’‘ of just how much game this  graduate πŸŽ“ of CCHS has, here is the capsule from E & H.

My favorite part of her is that she has a heart of gold !

Neely has remained a part of CCHS volleyball for roughly 20 years now, and while her day job requires her to work on the west end, this outstanding young lady will always be part of The Hill !

Good luck with the rest of the season, and please πŸ™ keep being who you are !
