On the road again, with stoplls βœ‹οΈ in Luray, Virllnia, Beckley, West Virginia, and New River CC all on the 5 Day, 4 Night docket !

The Chevy Trax is racking up the miles for sure.

Last night πŸŒ™ was a great deal of fun, and then it was straight to the car πŸš— for the drive up to New Market. Park the car, create five stories, rest, and restart with the morning brew.

This morning, I started with a phone call to the office of Wes Adcock. Coach Adcock is the skipper of the New River Community College baseball team, and he currently is mentoring three former Carroll County High School graduates πŸŽ“.

The next to the last stop on this loop is planned for Calfee Park in Pulaski, Virginia, as the Muskies are set to host the club team from UNC – Greensboro in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

Lance Burnett, Cody Reece, and Britt Berrier all lace them up for NRCC, and the team has landed in the national polls this season.

Being that I am responsible for the setting at a college baseball game at West Virginia Tech University, I understand that everyone is busy the closer it gets to first pitch, so the reason for the call πŸ“ž was to ask Coach what time would I need to stop by to capture a photo πŸ“Έ of the four of them, without disturbing their routines ?

The answer is 11:00 am on Sunday !

These three young men and our site have different lengths of relationships. Burnett is finishing up his sophomore season and currently holds a number of school records. He also gladly pitched in a few years ago when I needed a boy scout to walk a little old Grandma πŸ‘΅ across the street for a Volleyball 🏐 promo.

#3 of 5 Letter of Intent signers today – Lance Burnett

The link above takes you back to his signing day.

Cody Reece is a young man πŸ‘¨ who I was fortunate enough to experience his growing up from a somewhat awkward freshman into the man he is today. I smiled last night when I announced that it was his little brother who was swinging the bat in extra innings. Little Reece ( Connor) put the ball in play that plated Chanson Rakes and Blake Reed with what proved to be the winning runs. Cody loves life, and it shows in his disposition!

Britt Berrier is someone who I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting until his senior year of high school. His final season was the first one for our Skipper, Casey Burcham. The stick out memory was taking some photos with him on a day he received an award that we were involved in. The young man πŸ‘¨ is still the only resident of Carroll County that has a OneofUs.Care hat πŸ‘’ in his possession !

I am very proud of these three young men and the manner in which they represent their families and the Hill !

I’m looking forward to Sunday morning πŸŒ„ as I’m not sure how many times that three Carroll County graduates have competed on the same collegiate team.

A great deal of life has to happen between now and then, but I will do my best to capture the moment !

Welcome πŸ™ to Thursday, April 23rd, where we have a mixture of activities at both the High School and at West Virginia Tech University !

What a difference one month can make ! The Burcham Bunch left the Star 🌟 City with a 2-1 victory over Northside !!

Back on March 24th at Bill Worrell Field on The Hill, the Burcham Bunch had an off day against a talented Northside Vikings team. When the Cavalier fans went home that night, they were looking for the license plate of the truck 🚚 that ran them over.

Fast forward to Wednesday night, and Peyton (D1) Spencer was once again his dominant self.  The problem was that the Vikkings had a stud of their own on the mound, which led to a scoreless game at the end of the seventh inning.

Connor Reece plated two runs in the top of the eighth inning by hitting one where they ain’t, and by the time that Northside had regained control, both Blake Reed and Chanson Rakes had touched home plate.

Northside would answer back with one run in the bottom of the frame, but Spencer would finish what he started.

Head Coach Casey Burcham sounds like he might like to keep the youngster around !

” I’m running out of words to describe Peyton Spencer.  He was dominant and in control of the game from the first inning.  I love the fight these guys have, and I couldn’t be more proud of their effort and want to this afternoon.”

Natalie Harris has reached the end of the road after a decade of representing her school with a combination of class and toughness !

From Middle School 🏫 to High School and finally the campus of Emory & Henry, Natalie Harris has laced them up in a number of sports across the past decade. Basketball, Volleyball 🏐, Soccer ⚽️,  Swimming πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ and LaCrosse are just some of the stops βœ‹οΈ along the way.

Each school 🏫 and each sport received 110% of what the middle Harris daughter had to  give her coaches and teammates. The future is bright for this one !
