Story # 8 of 9 – Lady Cavalier Softball dropped a 7-5 decision to the Knights Friday night up in Buchanan, but know that they went down swinging !

First an update on our injured Lady Cavalier, Bayleigh Allen.

Took Bay to ortho. It was a sprain. Gave her a boot to use for theΒ  weekend and as needed. They told her she was ok to play/practice if she takes it easy and ices,.

Do what the Doctor says, Little Debbie, we miss your bat and glove, but the thing we miss the most is your smile!

Quick turnaround after the road game at Galax and the longest bus ride of the year and missing a player combines to make things challenging for sure.

Both Tammy Quesenberry and Kevin DeHaven were keeping me in the know from start to finish, so when the score reached 7-1, the focus for me was PLEASE let them finish up strong ! It’s been a hot minute since these ladies played in the friendly confines of our Cavalier Park, and a good finish would make for a better weekend.

Finish strong is exactly what happened as our team plated two runs in the sixth inning and then followed that up with two more in the seventh. By the time that James River High School recorded the 21st out, they knew that they had played a ballgame against a very resilient team.

While the offense was reaching another gear βš™οΈ, the pitching and defense was holding the Knights in check. JRHS is having another strong season, having already reached double digits in victories, so its important to not spot them runs.

Holly Miller and Laiken Burnett led the rally as both Seniors picked up two base knocks on the night. Burnett knocked in Madison Coleman and Emma Harman to account for two of the three RBI’s.

Two of the runs were unearned due to Knights misplayed balls, and the final RBI belonged to Catcher Natalie Burress. Miss Burress had herself a night as well, and one proud Mama, Myranda, has video to show !

In a world 🌎 where a great premium is put on, did you win the game, The answer here is we did not, but I’m proud of the effort on the road, far from home and against a strong team!

Already looking πŸ‘€ forward to Tuesday night at Cavalier Park !
