CCHS wins 🏆 14 – 8 !!!!
Galax, Virginia – Carroll County raced out to an early 5-0 lead, survived a Maroon Tide rally, and then finished strong in a 14-8 non-district victory over Galax on Thursday night.
The Lady Cavaliers pounded out 17 hits and took advantage of 11 Galax fielding errors to capture the first half of the home and home series against our neighbors to the West.
The top four spots in Coach Rick Nester’s lineup did the heavy lifting, collecting 13 of the base hits and scoring 11 of the runs. Addie Greene led the attack, reaching base in all five at bats. The Junior finished up with four base hits and three RBI in addition to scoring two runs.
Holly Miller, Raylee Goins, and Natalie Burress each finished the contest with three base hits. Goins scored four times and drove in three Cavaliers.
Galax did not go away quietly after falling behind by five runs early. The home team stormed back throughout the middle innings and finally tied the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The combination of Carroll County hitting the ball hard all night and shaky glove work by the home team eventually allowed the Lady Cavaliers to post a comfortable 14 – 8 victory. Galax will travel to The Hill on May 4th in hopes of earning a split in the season series.
Carroll County JV also defeated their counterparts, winning by a score of 22-3.

Both teams are set to play at Cavalier Park on Tuesday night as Patrick County comes to The Hill. It has been a hot minute since both Rick Nester and Terry Warf shared the diamond 💎.
