The Hill – Carroll County Volleyball recorded another non-district victory Monday night as the Lady Cavaliers defeated Pulaski County 3-1 (25-13, 25-16, 18-25, 25-16).

The latest victory moved Carroll County to 10-4 on the season but the window of celebration will be short as the team returns to action 🎬 Tuesday night when Three Rivers District foe, Radford High School comes to town.

Carroll County hot the ground running 🏃‍♂️ in the opening set as the team picked up Kills from five different players and Aces from four servers in the 25-13 victory.

Laiken Burnett was handing out assists like candy 🍬 on Halloween with both Ali Wright and Brooke Webb recording five each. Corrie Delp added three while Raylee Goins and Burnett added one apiece. The longest run was 5-0 and it took place with Clara DeHaven at the service line. The freshman landed two Aces during the stretch that put the game out of reach.

Head Coach Cindy Edwards went deep into her rotation at the start of the second set and by the end of the night the veteran Coach was able to play her entire roster.

Pulaski County played tougher against the new faces as the second set was tied up at every point between 3 and 8 and then again at 10, 12 and 15. Wright landed a Kill that sent Callie Harris to the service line and the Senior made the run 7-0 as she scored three Aces.

Maddie Hyatt added a service winner and Burnett closed out the set with a Quarterback sneak (placing a 2-ball) to close out the set at 25-16.

Faith Nicholson switched places with Callie Harris in the Libero spot for the third set. The teams traded points with neither side stringing more than three consecutive points. Nicholson scored an Ace to make it 16-16 but this time the Lady Cougars created the separation. The 9-2 closeout run was the best of the match and the 25-18 victory forced a fourth set.

Nicholson and Harris traded the Libero jersey once again as the Lady Cavaliers looked to close out the match. The closeout set mirrored the opening set as Burnett took turns feeding her teammates. Webb added another 5 Kills in the 25-16 victory while Wright  landed four more with two of the Juniors swings being the loudest of the night.

Raylee Goins and Arizona Thompson landed three each with DeHaven once again being the server on the longest run of the final set. Goins had the honor of sending the crowd home happy as the Sophomore scored the 93rd and final Carroll County point with the final Kill of the match.

Pulaski County Junior Varsity team defeated Carroll County 2-0 ( 25-13, 25-16) and Scott Memorial Middle School needed three sets to defeat Carroll County Middle School 2-1 (25-17, 22-25, 15-6).

All three Carroll County teams will once again play on The Hill Tuesday versus Radford and then the two older squads head over to Martinsville High School on Thursday night.

  Pulaski County jumped out to a quick 17-3 lead in the opening set and held Carroll County to a 10-8 advantage the remainder of the way for a 25-13 victory.

Morgan Osborne served three straight points and eighth grader, Page Ogle added three Kills to lead the comeback but the damage was done by the early run.

  In the second set, Carroll County was trailing 17-9 when Ogle scored a Kill that sent Osborne to the service line. Five straight serves, including three Aces and kills from Ogle and an over the shoulder effort from Hayden Heflin, made it 17-14.

Pulaski County closed out the set and the match with an 8-2 run, producing a 25-16 final. The result will show a sweep but a closer look shows the score being 33-26 in favor of the visitors after the slow 🐌 start.

Little time to rest as the Junior Varsity team will play the middle game on Tuesday evening when the Radford Bobcats invade The Hill.
