Just because two people run in different circles doesn’t prevent one from having the utmost respect for the effect that the other is having on a community.

While I don’t cross paths with Coach Greer a great deal, know that if I was trying to create a mythological place called The Hill, Seth Greer is our King 🀴!

Does that make him Hank ? Now, if you don’t watch King of the Hill, that reference won’t make a great deal of sense, but it’s a true statement.

Our 🏈🏈🏈🏈 program was to borrow from Jackson Browne, ” Running on Empty,” a few years ago. There is an expression in sports about a coach inheriting a cupboard that was empty, but in this case, I’m not sure that the cupboard was still there.

Greer created a climate, circled the wagons, and produced results that many people had given up on. He surrounded himself with quality staff, and this produced hard-nosed πŸ‘ƒ football players.

We had a season where we snuck into the playoffs as the #8 seed and went to the 🦁 Lion’s den in Abingdon. Then we followed up with another season that included a home playoff game ( and victory ) βž•οΈ a strong showing in the next round.

While many a successful coach can have blinders on to everything that is not his or her program, Greer is the opposite of that. The efforts of our Head Football coach are rather impressive, but the rest of his day has touched many, many Cavaliers along the way.

The next man up mentality will be put to the test again this season, but that is the beauty of the program. Strength and determination don’t graduate.

August 28th is opening night at Tommy Thompson Field, and it should be quite a show !

Thank you, Coach Greer, for everything you do, not just for our football players but for every Cavalier whose life you touch.
