If you are in search of a shaded healthy walk πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ, I have a great starting point ! The south end of the New River Trail in Galax might be the ticket πŸŽŸ!!

First things first, you would need one of two things to use the parking lot. Either $7.00 ( per car )or a Virginia State Park annual pass.

There are a few different things that make this stretch ideal for someone who is trying hard to remain healthy.

The scenery is first and foremost as the creek is running to your right.

2. There are two wooden bridges that cross the creek inside of the initial 3/4 mile.

3. The trees 🌳 line both sides and meet high above the trail πŸ‘£ to provide God’s own version of an umbrella πŸŒ‚ from the sun 🌞.

4. The surface is both giving and as flat as one could ask for. This combination makes it easier for the knees.

5. There is a public rest room at the entrance to the trail.

6. Easy access to the parking lot, right off US-58 by the CVS pharmacy.

7. Five benches pop up along the first mile, providing much needed rest stations along the way for those building up endurance.

This portion of the trail πŸ‘£ is the only place where two tracking systems coexist. MM 51 is part of the entire trail, while there are also four wooden ones showing each half mile leading up to the next entry point.

You can see that only 40 feet separated the highest and lowest elevation.

For the folks who are already working πŸ’ͺ on their health, there is plenty of trail to follow, but if your journey is just beginning, then this could be a great place to start.

Welcome πŸ™ to Tuesday, August 18th, and we get the day started with our Morning πŸŒ„ Brew !

Vicky Town, in a word, is magical 🎩 and yesterday we were blessed to have her join us at Special Olympics Basketball πŸ€ practice…

Brett Petty and 3 special ladies !

Vicky Town has been blessed πŸ™Œ with a special gift 🎁 and those who interact with her rejoice in the fact that she chooses to use her powers for good !

Vicky is keeping busy this time of the year as the Fair is drawing near βž•οΈ there are plans for a two day event on The Hill in early November ( 6th & 7th).

I first met Vicky a year ago when Coach Vickey Ritchie invited her out to entertain our group of folks, so I had the benefit of knowing what to expect, but it was still a priceless experience to see πŸ‘€ the pure joy that appeared on the faces of everyone inside the circle πŸ”΅.

Vicky also triggered a Vickey moment that will lead to a spinoff story about Mr Samuel Collins that will be shared later.

While I pride myself on being able to create a memorable moment, Vicky has the ability to reach inside and bring a story to life right before your very eyes πŸ‘€.

It is my understanding that the dessert 🍨 will take place after the performance of the children’s version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Whether you see her at the Fair or in early November down on Main Street, if you have an opportunity to see Vicky work her magic 🎩, you will be better for it !

Later on, after creating memories, Vicky turned to capturing them !

Getting ready for a new week, and there are some dates sprinkled across the calendar πŸ“…. We start off with the Morning πŸŒ„ Brew !

Travis Osborne and his Bible Verse of the Day :
