There were three Greg Maddux moments from the road this time, and one of them led to something pretty awesome showing up in the mailbox 📬!!! Here’s one of them…

Thank you to Mr David Epstein for the gift 🎁 of one Greg Maddux rookie card !

David was the center of the third Maddux conversation over the seven weeks on the road and now has cemented a place in the story of chasing HOPE.

We met during Week 6 of 7, while David was working at the Spring Mountains Visitors Gateway and immediately jumped into a conversation about life and the path that had brought us to the point in our lives.

At one point, the conversation led to my appreciation for the baseball ⚾️ career of Greg Maddux, and David had grown up as a lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fan, so the focus was on the time where Maddux pitched for LA.

In a show of appreciation to David, I will wear my Maddux Dodgers jersey to our Special Olympics Basketball 🏀 practice today. The ongoing search for others who choose to live life in a positive manner is a challenge. Sometimes, you strike gold and other days, not so much, but that day out in Mt Charleston, Nevada, it was like hitting the jackpot.

  David and his two co-workers are the real deal and represent the U.S. Forestry department incredibly well !
