Day: July 4, 2026

Today, we begin Week #5 of 7, and we have three guests arriving to join the adventure that is the East Coast of Canada 🇨🇦 !!

St. Louis, Missouri , Louisville, Kentucky, and Washington – Dulles are the airports where folks are  going to be boarding ✈️ soon, which makes this an exciting day !

Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island 🏝 and Newfoundland / Labrador are the four provinces that we will explore over the next week.

While I have reached double figures on my trips up here over the decades, the three family members arriving are all newbies to this region.

Wayne Carter ( 71), Sharon Jordan (66), and Chris Carter (39) are each about to start an adventure that hopefully will leave a positive memory for years to come.

Now, one fun note 📝 stems from the decision to leave South Florida early and drive 🚗 back to Laurel Fork to rest up for just over a day. The flight ✈️ I was to take out of Fort Lauderdale to NYC and then to Halifax has been delayed seven times and has yet to arrive. 12 hours worth of delays and counting.

Yesterday was my day to arrive and prepare for the excursion. Place a check ✔️ in that box 📦.

The highlight for Monday will be returning to Crowbush for a round of golf ⛳️ on a part of the Atlantic Ocean that few will ever see 👀.

The highlight of today will be sitting at a Canadian Pub while watching the Canada 🇨🇦 – Morocco 🇲🇦 World Cup match while waiting for flights ✈️ to arrive !

This is a place that I wasn’t sure 🤔 I would make it back to, and I’m thrilled that it worked out !

It’s not very often that I start my day in the Atlantic time zone, but that’s the case for the next week (+1). While there will be an all-day party back home, there will be a soccer ⚽️ party here as Canada 🇨🇦 looks to make the Elite Eight for the first time ever.

Paraguay 🇵🇾 and France 🇫🇷 will square off in the late game today as we begin the four day stretch that will take the World Cup from 16 down to 8.

All three host countries have made it to the Sweet 16, but the big difference is that Canada 🇨🇦 will be playing its match down in Houston, Texas, instead of Toronto or Vancouver.

2pm first touch here on the East Coast of Canada 🇨🇦, 1pm back home 🏡.

The thought of all three making it to the next round is a fun one, but none of the outcomes will be easy ones. But each one should be a fun watch !

Happy Birthday 🎂 to the United States 🇺🇸 of America ! Here’s to the next 250 years…

  The USA 🇺🇸 turning 250 years old sounds somewhat ancient until you compare it with some of the other countries throughout history.

Looking back at the Bicentennial in 1976, which I experienced as a teenager, and it is easy to reflect on the past 50 years, feeling very old in the process.

Today should be a fun day, and hopefully, everyone will have someone who they can celebrate it with !
