New Market – Don’t let the photo fool you, it is way darker than it looks….
Chris Carter played golf β³οΈ well enough in the practice round yesterday that Coach Knight excused him from today, which turned into a mental test for both Marion Harris and I. The golfing version of Boot Camp might be the best way to describe the day long process that is just now winding down.

After walking 18 holes at Sandy Bottom in Bridgewater, we were allowed a short hydration break where Alan brought in a golfing historian, Pappy Meade, in hopes of raising our appreciation for great game of golf .
Alan was underwhelmed by the effort he received from Marion and myself and showed it by destroying both of us in a competition. Knight was relentless in following up the first victory with a second one before the short break.

Coach was still not satisfied with us, so the next person he brought in was a motivational speaker, Bill Turner. Turner is somewhat of a local legend in regards to winning, and the visit was enjoyable.
Knight then sent us to the Shenvalee Golf β³οΈ Resort in New Market and told us to walk the course with just three clubs and remain out there until we made four consecutive pars or started bleeding from the callouses on our hands βοΈ.

Shortly after 9 p.m., we finally strung together our fourth straight par.
Now, he wants us to wake β°οΈ up at 6am and run a 5K to earn the right to eat a biscuit from Hardee’s at 7:30. The only reason Marion has not made a break for it is I’m his ride back to The Hill.

Right now, its time to find some pain medication π and set the alarm….
Chris Carter is one lucky golfer….
