1st TO, Falcons leading 19 – 13 on the strength 💪 of the serving by their #4.

Set #1 goes to the visitors, 25 – 18 [5:01]. Luray trailed 8-1 early but rallied back to 22-18 before the Falcons closed out the set.

Early TO in 2nd set, down 9-2 as Central once again opens with two big servers.

Set #2 ends 25 – 11 [5:22]…

5:27 – Start of the 3rd set….

15 – 9 for the Falcons to close out the night at 5:40.

Charleston Southern is holding their own down at Cameron in the first set.

We interrupt our VB coverage for 60 minutes of rec league soccer ⚽️.

Otto and Adam have both put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 early for the Hokies, coached by our Son, Christopher. Melody enjoys playing on a team coached by her father 👨.

We are playing against the Tar Heels and still lead, 2-0.

6:54 pm – Halftime, leading 2-0 !

Duke holds on 25 – 23 in the second set, lead 2-0 ! CSU came to play, though.

Duke completed the 3-0 sweep, but they had to work for it. That leaves the Varsity Lady Cavaliers VB match.

Carroll County Varsity Lady Cavaliers finished off their sweep, 3-0 at Patrick County, and will return home 🏡 with a shinny 7-1 mark on the season !!!

Bonus Note 📝 from Mr DeHaven : CCMS football 🏈🏈🏈 pitched a shutout over at Galax, 36 – 0 !

Carroll County goes 3-0 when you count the football. Duke VB won their match, and we split up here in Luray !

Fun night 🌙 and now tomorrow belongs to Half Pint Harris and Ferrum College !

Note : I would happily make space for the CCMS VB if we were to hear from someone over there.

Volleyball 🏐 is longer just something that people do in hopes of staying fit in the off-season of another sport !

Fox has the broadcast tonight, and it will be going on for quite some time now…

9:28 ET – Kentucky closes out Penn State, 3-1.

Nebraska and Mizzou around 10pm

The 15-minute piece on the day that Nebraska played a match in front of 92,000+ was inspiring.

1st serve right around 10:15 p.m

Like ants 🐜 at a picnic, all of the players are working to dry the court after three points of the late match.

17-minute delay as they attempt to dry the court after just two points.

11:00 pm – 42 minutes in, still in 1st set as once again they work on the court.

Tough break for sure, but they are using every means possible to correct the problem. The current break will last a minimum of 15 minutes.

Sadly, what should have been a once-in-a-lifetime evening has been cut ✂️ short.

Starting the event a few hours earlier might have been the best answer, but I will leave the second guessing to others.

I’m just glad that nobody was injured, and the fans were able to watch Kentucky and Penn State.

The Top 16 Women’s Basketball 🏀 teams are about to gather over in Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪 for 10 days !

There are three terrific reasons to grab the passport and head over to Germany for the FIBA tournament that begins at the end of the week.

Reason # 1 – Kelsey Plum will always remain in the top spot of female athletes for me, and if her lower leg 🦵 injury allows, she will once again be putting her talents on display. Plum turned 32 this week, which in real life is still relatively young, but by Basketball standards, not so much.

Reason #2 – Coach Lawson is leading the team once again, so that means that my favorite coach in the sport will also be making the trek over to Europe 🇪🇺. The fact that Lawson is at Duke University might have led me to pay more attention to her initially, but the fact that she is the real deal as a leader is the most important part of the equation.

Reason #3 – If Plum is my All-Time favorite women’s player, then Chelsea Gray is my favorite one to wear the colors at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Gray is 33 years old now, and like Plum, this figures to be her final opportunity.

The only reason for not going can best be summed up by borrowing from one of the Indiana Jones movies. ” Snakes 🐍, why did it have to be Snakes 🐍?”

Germany 🇩🇪, why does it have to be Germany 🇩🇪 ?

The initial trip to Germany years ago was to visit one of the children who was stationed there at the time, and it makes the one and done list. Driving 🚗 on the Autobahn was a blast, but if there’s going to be another 12 hour flight ✈️ somewhere, it won’t be back to Berlin.

Lawson coaching both Plum and Gray will be priceless to watch, even if it’s just on a television 📺…

Saturday, August 29th, marks the unofficial beginning of volleyball 🏐 season, and we “serve ” up our Morning 🌄 Brew to get things started…

Volleyball 🏐 season is here at every level and each team we will keep an eye in is ready to kick things off. Carroll County High School is set to host matches on both Monday and Thursday, while Ferrum College will host a day long tournament today.

Both Duke University and Utah Tech played last night in road tournaments with both the Blue Devils and the Trailblazers finding success !

The weekend is here, and there are opportunities for many to catch their breath.
