Super Bowl for 🧠s, we call that Super MACC and here’s what we can tell you about how are young but knowledgeable Cavaliers did against others from the rest of the Commonwealth!

The five categories that the teams compete in are as follows :

Last week the teams in the Western side of the State competed with the top two finishers advancing to the Championship tonight in Blacksburg !

Mrs. Kristy Jones was in the building and was kind enough to share her Photos πŸ“· with us and the results from the matches.

Let’s see πŸ‘€ how we did….

All Around put up a good fight but Blacksburg will advance to the finals. Trenton Newman, Garrison Wheatley, Bradley Dalton, & Jacob Talbert played the entire match, no substitutions, & should be proud of all their hard work! This team had an amazing season winning not only their region but also the Western Tournament!

The A in ASPN stands for Academics and that is why its joyful to have the opportunity to share anything that doesn’t take place on a ball field with our readers !!!

Thank You to the Teachers who give of themselves for this group and Congratulations πŸ‘ to each Student that participated along the way !

Finally, Thank You πŸ™ to Trenton’s Mom πŸ‘©β€ for being a Proud Parent !!!

We will wrap things up with a capture of Science in the closing seconds !

Science is going into overtime!

Carroll lost by 2 points in overtime…

Here is the Thing about the Spring : We have 15 teams that fall under the Umbrella πŸŒ‚so things can get pretty interesting at times !

12 High School teams in the Spring βž• my responsibilities with West Virginia Tech University Baseball ⚾️ βž• Dakota Walls Racing βž• Vickey Ritchie and our Special Olympics Basketball program.

That makes it 15 before you add on anything else from the Area, the Duke Women have a minimum of 1 and a maximum of six games remaining and we have tickets 🎟 for each one.

Β  Still hoping πŸ™ that Alyssa Ervin and Furman University will have one more opportunity to lace up the sneakers πŸ‘Ÿ this season but we won’t find out for another week yet.

Tonight wraps up the MACC competition and I’m looking forward to interacting with Kristy Jones one more time on that.

The three ways that I can make life better for someone is A. Using my space to help promote their efforts. B. Using my imagination to create a story for them C. Use my voice to announce an event.

I’ve come up short on the ultimate Goal of creating a safe space outside of Social Media where a person can click on and read only positive words about the subjects listed above. Didn’t get there but that doesn’t mean that you stop trying hard to support those who wish to be supported.

Tomorrow afternoon will be a great example for me to use as a fork in the road example – Coach Nester is hosting a scrimmage versus George Wythe at Cavalier Park. But its my understanding that you cannot announce during a scrimmage so does that mean going to Charleston, West Virginia Tomorrow for the Golden Bears double header make more sense ?

But its Charleston and not Beckley so its a 6 hour loop versus a four hour loop….

So just know that our goal remains to enjoy where we live, love thy neighbor and lend out the Skill set as often as possible.

If you like what you read here, tell a friend or two.. If not, then its easy enough to avoid.

Thanks for reading πŸ“š and Go Cavaliers, Go Golden Bears, Go Special Olympics Basketball πŸ€ and Go Kira Lawson & Duke !

Dakota Walls – Class of 2028

Schedule πŸ“… Update : Carroll County High Softball scrimmage with Bassett High has been moved up 24 hours do to you know who….Mother Nature is just mean sometimes.

Lin noticed the temperature 🌑 forecast for the week when she woke up and the high in the 40’s on Thursday jumped out pretty quickly.

We just received word from Coach Nester that the second of the two scrimmages slated for this week has been bumped up one day.

Tuesday – Home 🏑  versus George Wythe

Now – Wednesday at Bassett High, up from Thursday.

Things are moving fast at Dakota Walls Racing 🏎 and the number 2 is at the center of it all !

Sophia, North Carolina – The weather delay could not dampen the spirits of the crew at Dakota Walls Racing yesterday afternoon as Walls reached the podium with a second place finish in the season opener for the team.

Caraway Speedway kicked off its 61st season in racing Sunday afternoon with an eight race schedule that was set to get underway at 2:15 pm. Mother Nature pushed that back until 4pm, setting everything into hurry up mode.

It was shortly after 5pm when the scheduled 35 lap race that featured our Carroll County High School sophomore received the green flag. The asphalt track is .455 of a mile long so 35 trips around would normally take 15 – 20 minutes to complete.

This race 🏁 was as much about patience as it was about driving skills. Four early caution ⚠️ flags extended the race long enough that the next batch of rain made its way into the area, forcing the first of two red flag 🚩 stops.

Β  The effort to dry the track was definitely old school as three vehicles with two gigantic tires being dragged behind them. Old School but effective as the race was finally able to resume ! The next red flag came on Lap 30 /35 when the two lead cars got into each other, ending the day for both drivers.

Walls was running right behind the pair and somehow managed to slide through without making contact. When the race finally resumed for the five lap bolt to the checkered flag 🏁, Walls was in the top spot for the restart.

When the dust settled on the race, Walls finished second by one car length, capping an adventure that lasted sixty minutes. Walls handled himself well when the track host interviewed him briefly immediately afterwards.

We mentioned that the number two was highly relative to the story. The first example was the 2nd place finish and the next being that the team enters the season with two cars !

Saving the best for last, Walls is on the cusp of starting his second decade in racing. How does a young man that is a 10th grader and barely old enough to legally drive a car possibly have so much experience with racing ?

” I started bicycling racing at 6 then I wanted a gokart so I started gokart racing when I was 8 then I got really good in go-karts so we went to dirt modifeds for a year then the track closerd down then we had an offer to go test a asphalt latemodel it went good so the guy said we could drive it for him after a while we bought the car from him and now I’ve been racing asphalt Latemodels since 2022.”

“Won probably 45 races in my gokart career,” added Walls.

If Sunday is an indication of the future, his next checkered flag 🏁 will be here in the blink of an eye.
