Here are a few of the players that are heading to town this Summer.

I’m not sure that there is a batting order to the craziness of spring, but if there is, it would look something like this.
Leading off, Vickey Ritchie and our Special Olympics Basketball π program.
Batting second, Cavalier Park – home of the Lady Cavaliers Softball program.
In the third spot, Linda K Epling Stadium or any other baseball stadium that our Golden Bears π» call home.
Hitting cleanup, the Tommy Thompson Field press box for Shawn Montgomery and Jon Delp. The funny thing about this gig is how seldom one has to hold the microphone π€.
Batting fifth, the same Press Box for the efforts of the fearless foursome that is our soccer β½οΈ coaches. Huge fans of all four of these programs, especially just how connected the Junior Varsity teams and the Varsity teams are. This is highlighted by the working relationships that exist between Forrest and Jeremy & Adrienne and Brittany.
[ Cheering on Dakota Walls doesn’t require holding a microphone, just a pen after the fact ]
Any day that I can be of assistance over there is a great day because this group is very easy to pull for, and as folks like Marion Harris chase the dream of having Carroll County catch up with the rest of the Commonwealth, there is work to be done.
The funny thing about tonight is that it’s Galax night on The Pitch. Our ladies make the short drive across US-58 while the fellas are set to defend The Hill. This might be the one night that doesn’t have to be hyped !

Soccer β½οΈ is the sport for most of the World π and here in Carroll County, we are working HARD to chase down the Glenvars of our region. We have seriously dedicated coaches, and our youth programs are getting stronger by the day. Numbers are up at the middle school π« level, making the progress easy to see π.

Four matches being coached by four Soccer enthusiasts on a pitch near you tonight ! Whether it’s over in Galax or on The Hill, join in the fun….

Something was missing from the press box π¦ last night π at Cavalier Park during the Junior Varsity Softball game. Actually, it might be more correctly stated as someone was missing.
When the two teams play opposite each other, as was the case last night with the Varsity playing at Fort Chiswell, Tammy Tobler is with the Big Kiddos. That left just Mr Lineberry and I upstairs. It’s not a huge adjustment to make until it’s time to drive back to Laurel Fork and create a game story.
Last night, we played a seven inning game that was filled with twists and turns, from start to finish. Trying hard to capture every one that was significantΒ proved to be a challenge, but it made for a fun write βοΈ. Mixing it in with the story on varsity was to increase the possibility that even more folks would read about just how hard this group is playing for coaches, Terry Warf and Alec Horton.
Kevin is a class act , one who is willing to sacrifice time with his lovely wife to sit up top and run the scoreboard. Other duties include keeping the old guy pointed in the right direction ! He’s really good at both of those tasks !
Weather permitting, we will do this again on Friday, for the third time in five days, but this time, Coach Warf is going to let the older kiddos play, too.
If Mother Nature leaves us alone, we will celebrate the playing career of our Holly Miller in between games.
Kevin Lineberry and Kevin Burress in the same night is something that I will look forward to !
Mix in some Tammy Tobler and possibly some Macie Adkins, giving us the classic line from the original Blues Brothers movie π¬, ” We’re putting the band back together!”
The goal every time we play Softball at Cavalier Park is to make the time as enjoyable as possible for all involved. Last night π was another great opportunity for loving Parents to watch their favorite Lady Cavalier play a game they love.

Bonus being that we rallied to win πa well played ball game. Everything that happened was made possible by Kylie’s Dad upstairs and everyone in the stands below.
Something about Softball Dad’s named Kevin !

Kira Lawson called Sacramento home for the first half of her 13 year career and helped the Monarchs win the π back in 2005. For the next few days, Coach will be looking for that type of Sac Town success story for Duke University.
Friday will be a fun day in the world π of Women’s Basketball π as the four games will be played consecutively. The first two from Texas and then out to California !

Adrienne Harris and Brittany Kinney are set to make the short drive π over to Galax today with Jeremy Puckett and Forrest Johnson will look to take care of business at Tommy Thompson Field versus our neighbors with both set to begin at 5 : 30.

Matthew 7:8Β For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Have yourself a Blessed Day π
