Saturday, April 25th, will be the season ending game for West Virginia Tech University Baseball βΎοΈ and that leaves us just over two weeks of action left. Three weekend series remain βοΈ two scheduled mid-week tilts with both being on the road, beginning today at the University of Pikesville.
We enter today’s non-conference match-up with a 9-9 mark in such games. The Bears of Pikeville are enjoying another strong season and should prove to be quite the foe. The final mid-week match-up will take place next Tuesday at Davis & Elkins.
It’s always a great day to be a Golden Bear π»!
The team returns to Linda K Epling Stadium this weekend for the next to last home three game set versus IU – Kokomo and close out the home schedule on April 24 & 25 versus Midway.
West Virginia Tech University Softball had an extremely busy 24+ hours as the Lady Golden Bears played back to back doubleheaders in Beckley, against two different conference opponents.
Today, the team hosted Midway, and the opening game lasted 10 innings. WVU-T won 6-5 when they pushed across a run in the third extra frame.
After a short break, they laced them back up and played another seven innings on a day where the temperature π‘was in the 80’s. Four and one-half hours after they started, they completed the day by dropping a hard fought 4-2 decision.
After the conclusion of their day, some of the players jumped into their cars π and made the drive up to Linda K Epling Stadium π for the end of our second game !
Student Athletes supporting fellow Student Athletes is always neat to see π but to do it after their 24 hours is over the top !
Welcome π back to Linda K Epling Stadium π, where we are now inside of an hour of having our first pitch of Game 1 of today’s doubleheader with Rio Grande.
The Red Storm opened the series with a 5-2 victory yesterday.BP is underway now.
Day 2 of a series is always a bit more relaxed than Day 1 because the meeting with the visiting Head Coach has already taken place. But today, it’s Brad Warnimont, so extra time with someone of his caliber is a treat.
Here for the day and no telling where the day will take us, but happy to find out !
Stay tuned !
It’s time to start focusing on our upcoming Senior Day project. This year we have a group of six…
From Narrows, Virginia – now pitching, Aiden McGlothlin !

Sometimes, baseball βΎοΈ can break your heart β€οΈ.
Rio Grande plated two runs in their final at bat on a one out double and held off our Golden Bears π», 6-5, allowing the Red Storm to complete a three game sweep. All three games were highly competitive, but all three went the way of the visitors.
West Virginia Tech University Baseball βΎοΈ competes in a rather top-heavy River States Conference, and we head into the series today versus Rio Grande with a league mark of just 2-13.
The postseason league tournament takes place in Ohio at the end of the season, and the top six teams make the guest list.
At the top of this post, you see π the lowere portion of the league standings with four weekend series left (12 games). The upside for us is that we are still in this because we have completed our version of murders row.
Rio Grande went 15 – 5 in non-conference play and is well coached. They will be looking at this weekend in the exact same manner, so we should have a great weekend of baseball βΎοΈ starting at 3 pm today over at Linda K Epling Stadium π.
If I had an editing staff, I could trim this down to where it would que up at the right spot, but I don’t, so it won’t. If you get past the first 15 seconds, it’s Jim Mora as only Jim Mora could be !
Beckley, West Virginia – West Virginia Tech University trailed 6-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning at home on Tuesday, but the bats woke up, allowing the Golden Bears to escape with a 10-9 victory.
Angel Leiva ripped a two out single to score Brayden Kiblinger from second base to send the fans at Lunda K Epling Stadium home happy.
Kiplinger coaxed a walk from Noah Burtner after two were out. Burtner hit Nolan Copeland with a pitch to move Kiplinger into scoring position and set the table for Leiva to play the role of hero.
Jordan Ramsey opened the game for Bluefield by depositing the first pitch of the game over the left centerfield fence. WVU-T bounced back in the bottom of the inning, tying the game on an infield single from Cody Cooper. But the bats went quiet over the next four innings, leaving the home team down 6-1, heading into the bottom of the six.

Skipper Lawrence Nesselrodt sent 12 to the plate during the uprising, and five Golden Bears picked up an RBI.
WVU-T protected their first lead, 8-6 until the top of the eighth inning. Bluefield regained the lead on a 3-run inside the park home run from Shawn Cherry.
Trailing 9-8 heading into the bottom of the eighth, Nesselrodt pulled out all of the stops in hopes of evening the score. Gabe Templeton led off with a single, and JJ Polvinale laid down a perfect bunt to move Templeton into position. Bluefield threw behind him, and the error moved him to third base. Carson Brown executed a textbook suicide squeeze, and the teams headed to the ninth at 9-9.
Clayton Hargus took the mound as the ninth WVU-T pitcher of the day and pitched around a runner on third base to position himself for the victory.
