James River High School 🏫 sank a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer but our Cavaliers still lead 27 – 26.

Mr DeHaven found me a back way in and we led 21-18 with 3:30 left in the second quarter.

Isaiah Easter, Blake Reed and Colton Gravley each scored two points during the rest of the half. Will have to build backwards for the first 12+ minutes.

The biggest difference between writing ✍ with your own objective versus doing so for a Newspaper 📰 or Magazine is my sole purpose is selling kindness 😊.

The reason I watch Furman University Women’s Basketball 🏀 is because Christy Ervin loves her daughter. That’s not to say that Jon doesn’t love her too or Mom loves their Son one ounce less. Just a proud parent and I would like to think the World 🌎 is full of proud parents !

So, now I get to pen 🖊 a story for Mrs Easter on the morning 🌄 after her Son joined her daughter in the Carroll County High School 1,000 points scored club. I hope its a story that Vickie would take to Church ⛪ and show it to her friends and family 👪. Yes, Israel can read it too, assuming that is okay with Mom 👩.

Every part of this story will be told in 3’s because it sounds fun in my sleep deprived brain 🧠, so let’s get started!

1. 3rd quarter – Isaiah Easter made a basket 🧺 late in the 3rd quarter to break 1,000 points !
2. Isaiah Easter is the 3rd player to wear our colors under the guidance of Head Coach Anthony Barnes. Easter joined Davis Reitzel and Bryce Smoot.
3. 3 Ladies have cracked the code to enter the elite group in my six years here. The fact that one of those three was Vickie’s youngest daughter Kaylee (Ervin and Hagee) adds an entire next level to the story.

5. Isaiah Easter joined the Club in less than THREE full seasons, well under that when you break it down. Easter joined the Varsity team for the two Regional tournament games  of his Freshman year and his Senior year is just past the halfway point.

6. The ability to score from all 3 spots on the floor aided Easter to climb the mountain ⛰ quickly. Shooting from the free throw line, driving to the basket 🧺 and stepping behind the 3-point line.

The Hill – Carroll County High School played end to end defense from the opening whistle and used the energy to coast to an 84 – 53 victory over visiting Galax Thursday night.

Isaiah Easter led the charge with a game high 31 points, including one incredibly important basket 🧺 late in the third quarter when the Senior joined his Sister. Kaylee Easter in the 1,000 point club.

The game was stopped for a brief moment of acknowledgment and Velvet Leonard was on hand to capture the moment.

Carroll County (7-8)  opened the game in a full court press  and as the case has been all season, Cavalier defense leads to Cavalier offense. The team posted 49 points by the halftime break. Barnes was able to play his entire roster, minus Eli Lark who is recovering from the flu.

Colton Gravley added 18 point and was joined in double figures by Blake Reed ( 14 points ) with Will Motley just missing making it a quartet, finishing up with nine points.

Barnes took the time to reflect on the night 🌙 and how much it meant to his program.

” Man did we ever need that ! Great win against Galax ,A huge rival game, big crowd and big night for Isiah Easter getting his 1,000 in front of the Cavalier Nation and home crowd. Great TEAM effort and energy for 32 min, thought our press and pressure was the difference in the game (13 steals ). Great game off the bench for Colton Gravely 18pts,3 rebounds ,2 assits. Blake Reed chipped in 14pts, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Kyle Bunn 4pts , 9 rebounds which is huge. “

Getting back to .500 tonight against the Knights would allow the Train 🚆 to build momentum going into the second half of the Three Rivers District season.

” I told them tonight we must control the boards, keep energy and effort high ,play TEAM ball and we would be fine and they did just that,” added Barnes. ” Will Motley off bench with 9 pts 3 Rebounds and assits. Super proud of Isiah Easter 31pts, 8 Rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assits. His work thru the years has definitely paid off for him and our program. I think its more special because of being on same team with Davis Reitzel, Bryce Smoot,
both 1000 point scorers and one the all time scorer (3,600 plus and counting). Great company for sure. Quick turnaround for CAVS, tip tomorrow away vs James River at 5:30 . LETS GO CAVS .”

Carroll County JV Boys posted a wild comeback in the fourth quarter to get back in their contest with Galax. The Maroon Tide held on for the 40 – 32 victory over our Cavaliers.

Weather permitting, the Varsity Boys and both Girls teams will take the long Bus 🚌 Ride up to Buchanan tonight for a rare triple header of action 🎬.
