Playing in front of 18,000+ and a long way from Sunny Orlando, CFU captured the much needed Quad 1 victory over a talented BYU team !
Dawkins is in his 10th season at CFU and the only time they made the NCAA field was back in 2019, when the team earned the schools only tournament victory before falling in the Round of 32.
CFU has only made the Big Dance π five times in its history but that number figures to go up to six here shortly !
The number of college basketball arenas I have visited over the years is now well north of 200 and each experience has been unique. But nothing had me prepared for our Saturday morning π visit to the Gymnasium in Logan, Utah
Utah State University currently resides in the Mountain West Conference but is headed to the New look Pac – 12 next season and Aggie fans are excited about the pending move.
Was the atmosphere fueled by the opponent being rival San Diego State ? Was it fueled by the game being a showdown for the MWC regular season crown ? Quite possibly but regardless the reason why, it was AMPED.
Lin’s Jump Ball ( the one up top was hers as well)
How close is Logan, Utah to the Idaho border ? Close enough that you can smell the potatoes π₯. The city averages over 50 inches of snow β per winter.
You will notice that the attendance was 100% capacity for the game and there’s no doubt that the crowd helped create the victory for the Aggies!
The game was an 11:00 am local time tip so it could be showcased on CBS sports as a National game but the early start didn’t prevent the Student section from bringing the energy.
Current UVA Head Coach, Ryan Odum spent two seasons at the helm of the Aggies before returning to the East Coast. The UVA aspect was interesting because of the full circle π΅ loop of going from the school that made history back in 2018 by defeating the #1 seed to a few years later returning to coach said team.
If you ever find yourself in the vicinity of Logan, Utah in the winter time there are two things you should do. Say hello π to the giant Bull out front and get a ticket π to see the Aggie students support their team !
Yesterday when the Moon and Stars βͺοΈ all lined up to visit the Salt π§ Lake Seven, we also knew that Utah State University- Eastern was also playing a twin bill at home.
As was the case last night with Salt Lake CC, we had seen the Eagles play back in December, just not in their Gymnasium.
Neat campus and we actually had the pleasure of playing their Disc Golf β³ course that criss crosses the property.
The School is one of three in the Bee Hive state that compete at the Junior College level. SLCC and Snow β College being the other two.
Seven D1, one D2 and 3 JuCo schools π« spread across the four corners of Utah.
We were looking for a sign that going over to Price was indeed Right and as soon as we pulled off the exit of US-6 we saw it !
The two places sit across from each other..Helping others discover the Campus
