The Grapefruit League is the Major League Baseball ⚾️ home for half the teams (15). The other half play on the West Coast in the Catcus League.

The Florida State League is Class A baseball with 10 teams.

This brings you to the total of 25 teams altogether.

6 of the Grapefruit League teams do not play in the Florida State League. Those six are stand-alone for spring only.

There is just one team in the Florida State League but not the Grapefruit, and it’s not the only way that it is isolated. Daytona does not have any other teams in their part of the state.

Using the schedule for tomorrow, here are the ten teams (9 + Daytona) that play.

So 25 is the number of total teams. Now we enter the math phase !

Yes, there are 25 teams, but certainly not 25 parks or cities involved.

The 9 true duplicates drop the numbers down to 16.

The number of cities gets dropped down to 14 because Fort Meyers has 2 teams, and West Palm Beach does as well.

The number of Stadiums 🏟 is even trickier because it goes from 25 to 16 and then – Palm Beach Cardinals of the FSL share the park that Jupiter calls home. Both of the West Palm Beach teams share their parks at 5444 Haverhill Road North.

To visit all of the home parks for the 25 teams, it would require visiting 14 cities and 14 ball parks. 9 parks that one could catch a live game in and 5 where one could just visit.

9 on the Gulf Coast, 4 on the Gold Coast, Lakeland in the center, and to complete the Trek, a runner to Daytona.

107 miles removed from the next closest ballpark. The only brightside to Daytona is that there’s a Buc-ees there !!

The chase to 25 / 14 / 14 /10 (Live) currently sits at not many, and the flight out to Canada is next Friday afternoon.

The League doesn’t play on Mondays, so that leaves Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to peck away at the list.

Fort Meyers is located over on the Gulf coast and has one of the 10 teams who call the Florida State League home.

Tonight at 6:05 p.m., the Mighty Mussels will host the St. Lucie Mets.

Food doesn’t count against the total because one would be eating anyway, right ?

The first cost wasn’t a planned one but a cost just the same. A stretch of I-75 down here is called Alligator Alley and comes with a toll of $3.75. But, hey, one doesn’t get to cruise the Florida Everglades every day, right ?

Naples is the city that welcomes you to the left coast, the one that sits on the Gulf of Mexico side of the sunshine state. It sits just south of Ft Meyers (30 miles).

There is one stop ✋️option on the stretch across Alligator Alley, and it sits on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation. Options are gas, Dunkin Donughts, a cafe, and a handful of slot machines.

Once you get to Naples, a scenic option is to take US-41 North up to Ft Meyers. It’s a little slower but on the coast and turnoffs for different beaches ⛱️.

Ft Meyers is an affiliate of the Minnesota Twins and they lean into that all over the place. $10.00 for parking at the game.

Grapefruit 🏡🏠🏡 for the Twins comes with multiple practice fields outside of the stadium 🏟. Everything here is named after a famous Minnesota Twin.

The waterfall out front is wicked cool 😎
