Borrowing from Scott Van Pelt , the best thing I saw today !

West Virginia Tech University Softball had an extremely busy 24+ hours as the Lady Golden Bears played back to back doubleheaders in Beckley, against two different conference opponents.

Today, the team hosted Midway, and the opening game lasted 10 innings. WVU-T won 6-5 when they pushed across a run in the third extra frame.

After a short break, they laced them back up and played another seven innings on a day where the temperature 🌑was in the 80’s. Four and one-half hours after they started, they completed the day by dropping a hard fought 4-2 decision.

After the conclusion of their day, some of the players jumped into their cars πŸš— and made the drive up to Linda K Epling Stadium 🏟 for the end of our second game !

Student Athletes supporting fellow Student Athletes is always neat to see πŸ‘€ but to do it after their 24 hours is over the top !

What better way to fill the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday than with a baseball ⚾️ doubleheader !

Welcome πŸ™ back to Linda K Epling Stadium 🏟, where we are now inside of an hour of having our first pitch of Game 1 of today’s doubleheader with Rio Grande.

The Red Storm opened the series with a 5-2 victory yesterday.
BP is underway now.

Day 2 of a series is always a bit more relaxed than Day 1 because the meeting with the visiting Head Coach has already taken place. But today, it’s Brad Warnimont, so extra time with someone of his caliber is a treat.

Here for the day and no telling where the day will take us, but happy to find out !

Stay tuned !

It’s time to start focusing on our upcoming Senior Day project. This year we have a group of six…

From Narrows, Virginia – now pitching, Aiden McGlothlin !

Final Score – Red Storm 7, Golden Bears 🐻 3. Time of game, 2 hours 39 minutes.

Once again, we matched the number of hits, just not the number of runs.

The game ended at 2:42 . Look to restart at 3:15ish.

4:30 – Softball just finished up with a split of their doubleheader across town.

Top of the 7th inning, and we are three outs from a W !

Sometimes, baseball ⚾️ can break your heart ❀️.

Rio Grande plated two runs in their final at bat on a one out double and held off our Golden Bears 🐻, 6-5, allowing the Red Storm to complete a three game sweep. All three games were highly competitive, but all three went the way of the visitors.

It’s time to head back to Laurel Fork 🍴.

Welcome πŸ™ to Saturday, where we will play 2 here in Beckley, the last day of the NYC trip takes place, and a few other this and thats.

Travis Osborne and his Bible Verse of the Day :

Isaiah 53:5Β But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The days when we play both a 9 and a 7 inning game have become a bit of a challenge lately because it tends to mean 8+ hours at the ballpark, but it does give me time to get caught up on a few things.

Godspeed on the journey  back from New York πŸ™ City ! Marion tells me that the excursion has been everything and then some for the group.

Have yourself a Blessed Day πŸ™Œ

Playoffs, we’re talking Playoffs will go down in history as one of the greatest sound bites in sports history – yes, Jim Mora, here in Beckley, we are going to talk Playoffs for our Golden Bears πŸ»

Jim Mora in the moment back in the Day !

West Virginia Tech University Baseball ⚾️ competes in a rather top-heavy River States Conference, and we head into the series today versus Rio Grande with a league mark of just 2-13.

The postseason league tournament takes place in Ohio at the end of the season, and the top six teams make the guest list.

At the top of this post, you see πŸ‘€ the lowere portion of the league standings with four weekend series left (12 games). The upside for us is that we are still in this because we have completed our version of murders row.

Rio Grande went 15 – 5 in non-conference play and is well coached. They will be looking at this weekend in the exact same manner, so we should have a great weekend of baseball ⚾️ starting at 3 pm today over at Linda K Epling Stadium 🏟.

If I had an editing staff, I could trim this down to where it would que up at the right spot, but I don’t, so it won’t. If you get past the first 15 seconds, it’s Jim Mora as only Jim Mora could be !

The scoreboard is now complete from last night as Mr DeHaven circled back and helped me fill in the blanks!

He described the varsity baseball game as a heck of a battle.

The Boys Varsity Soccer was a spirited match for sure.

Varsity Softball had one harsh inning that they couldn’t overcome.

We have two stories already – JV Baseball and Varsity Track and Field.

There will be at least two expanded stories and possibly more (Softball and Boys Soccer ), depending upon the information that makes it my way as the day plays out.

Here in Beckley, we will be hosting Rio Grande in a normal three game weekend set with one game today and two tomorrow.

New York, New York continues to play out for the Chorus, and I’m sure that we will hear from Marion at some point.

Speaking πŸ”Š of Marion, right before the lightning 🌩 broke out at Soccer on Wednesday evening, he shared some wonderful news about Natalie Harris and the E & H LaCrosse team !

First ever SAC win!!!

Congratulations to the Lady. Wasps for their victory in a back and forth affair over Mars Hill !

Note πŸ“ to our email πŸ“§ subscribers – late last night πŸŒ™ you might have received a shell version of this story as I was framing it up. Apologies for that one as I bumped my phone while I was building the frame.

It’s Good Friday and a great day to be alive !

Have a Blessed Day πŸ™Œ!
