When I say that my efforts with my site aren’t about me, I offer exhibit one in that my name doesn’t appear anywhere on my site. As Tauren Wells sings – “its not about me”.

It was 17 years ago that I created our site and every day since then, I have made it my life’s mission to use my words and my voice for Good. Sadly, during this period of time my health and that of my wife have suffered major setbacks. I don’t write about these things because I try to be uplifting in everything that I do or say.

The latest Pill 💊 prescribed by my Doctor raised the total to 30 taken on a daily basis. This one has led to a series of problems, including messing with my ability to walk without a cane. But I thought that I could work through it like I had done with all of the other ones.

Sadly, I was mistaken about that. The need to try and unplug for an extended period of time was obvious and here we are, set to spend 90 Days in the Desert 🏜, in hopes of getting a little bit better than I am now. The good news is that on Day #11 I am starting to see improvement in the numbers that keep the Doctor worried.

  Three or four people who have not seen me around had reached out and asked so here is the one-time answer. I am not doing well but I’m sure trying hard to get better !

How does this effect my efforts with my site ? It just makes me a bit more dependent on others to help me create content to share. There are oh sooooooooo many things in Carroll County to be proud of and I’m trying hard to share as much of it as possible with the folks that don’t live on Social Media.

This Buffalo 🐃 pictured above is one of a couple dozen spread around St. George and each day I try to maximize my exercise by hiking around the City and finding as many as possible.

March 1st will be the end of the 90 Days and then it will be time to return to the Doctor so we can create a new plan going forward. The page I mentioned will allow those who have a genuine interest in my well being to follow along. The goal is to walk 🚶‍♂️ 1.35 Million Steps 🚶‍♂️and avoid all of the poor choices that one makes when trying to work around the Clock ⏰.

Hopefully that answers 🙏 some of the questions about what’s going on in life.

Back when Nike was originally rolling out the Air Jordan brand they had a series of commercials where a young Spike Lee played the role of Mars Blackmon and repeatedly said its gotta be the Shoes Mike, its gotta be the shoes 👟👟👟.

  Kayla Nester is in her initial year of being the Athletic Director at Carroll County Middle School 🏫 and wow, does she have two Big Time Basketball minds leading her programs !!

Not sure who plays the role in the commercial but I can see Mrs Nester holding a Basketball in her hands and someone saying, its gotta be the AD, its gotta be the AD !!

Let’s get back to the group that Coach Brown took over to Floyd County and how the opportunity came about in the first place. In the words of the artist 🎨 known as Coach Brown :

” I got a text from Floyd county varsity coach asking if I had a 7th grade group that could play Saturday. I coach a group called the raptors which is a combination of galax and Carroll kids. I got 10 of them together and took them to play in the “2025 Floyd County Christmas Bash”. I didn’t know what to expect because we haven’t started travel ball practices yet but we ended up winning the whole thing.

   We played a team out of Blacksburg and a team named team xtreme which has kids from Pulaski, auburn , and christiansburg. We played them each once and went 2-0. We got a bye in to the championship where we beat team xtreme.

    We beat them by 2 the first time around and got them by like 10-15 in the championship. Super proud of both galax and Carroll kids and we plan to go to another tournament this coming Saturday in Patrick County.”.

Congratulations 👏👏👏 to Coach Brown and the players from both Schools 🏫 !!
