We had ourselves a Saturday ! For just the second time in the 17 year History of the site, we had over 1,000 people check in on the same day !!

The day started out normal enough, picked up momentum in the afternoon and closed out as the second biggest day we’ve experienced.

Not really sure what triggered some new people finding their way in but Welcome to what I like to call “The Happy Place “. The goal was to design a place online that only contains positives and has a direct tie 👔 to someone or something in Carroll County, Virginia. A place where folks of all ages could check ✔ in with they have a few minutes and find out about all the wonderful 👏 things happening around them.

There are some days where its easy to stop and wonder if people realize that the site is there but that wasn’t the case yesterday. So if you are just finding out about the site, Welcome 🙏. Each read is designed to be consumed in two minutes or less because we appreciate just how busy everyone is and we aren’t looking to give people homework.

For those of you that have along for years, God Bless You 🙏❤

Wrapping up with a nod to the impressive young Lady 👩 that continues to live life in the only way she knows how – Full Speed Ahead !

l106 total players today; 25 teams (16 High School, 9 Open).

Question readers were Scott Sherrill, Paxton Berrier, and yours truly.

A fun part of this event is the open division that allows anyone to play – coaches, teachers, former players, parents. It’s open to all.

Alan Webb and former MACC standout CJ Richardson partnered with a father/daughter combo to tie for second place in that division, which included at least one national championship player (on a competing team…).

By the end of the day, these guys and gals heard 180 toss up questions and possibly as many as 540 team directed bonus questions. That’s a lot of trivia!

It’s time for us to hang up our propeller hats until next fall. It’s been a great year!

Thanks to coaches Paxton Berrier, Scott Sherrill, Alex McMillian, and Rachelle Rasco (and me…).

Thanks to Alan Webb and Wayne McKnight for jumping on the bus and getting us to our games this season!

In between keeping up with everything I was able to pen 🖊 a story about Hix Miller and his family 👪, watch some Duke & UVA softball and finally the Duke Blue & White football game.

We had singers performing up in Richmond under the guidance of Patricia Lineberry.

Just another Saturday in the Land of Cavaliers and that list didn’t take into consideration the day that Brandi had mapped out for herself, which included trying to get down to Wise.

If anyone out there has photos 📷 to add or additions, please let me know.

Shannon Dalton checks ✔ in from Greensboro, Pool Side !

Swim meet tonight in Greensboro! Representing the Twin Counties tonight were Briar Sessions (Galax), and Bradley and Will Dalton (Carroll).

Friday Night Races with STAR Aquatics opened the long course season. Most of the swim year is short course – 25 yard pools with plenty of turns. But in the summer, USA Swim teams shift to long course – 50 meters (like you see if you watch Olympic swimming on TV). And 50 meters is definitely a long way down the pool.

Sessions swam 100 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM. Bradley Dalton swam 50 free, 100 breast, and 200 IM. Will Dalton checked in with 100 back, 50 free, and 50 fly.

All three probably had their best races tonight in freestyle.

And don’t forget that if this looks fun, you’re just a trip to the CWC away from having a fun summer at the pool! Summer registration is open!

Thank You to our Swim 🏊‍♂️ Ambassador, Mrs. Shannon Dalton !

The story of young Dakota Walls just got younger !

Late last night 🌙 while I was writing ✍ the story on the Carroll County Softball game I received a message from Dakota Walls.

For those of you that are not familiar with the name, Walls is Student here in Carroll County that happens to be a race car driver. As we are always looking for ways to assist our youth here at home I became intrigued by someone who was so young already racing cars 🏎.

Linda and I made the trip over to the Franklin County Speedway for his first race 🏁 of the season and do our best to keep up with his efforts on the various Race Tracks.

While we are one of the number of folks that sponsor his car, we still haven’t met in person. Last night he informed me that I was only half right in describing him as a High School 🏫 student.

Dakota Walls is a student, just not in High School. The young man is attending the Middle School 🏫. For me, this only makes the story even better! Having the level of commitment to chase a dream, while still attending Middle School is astonishing in my World 🌎.

Dakota will return to the Oval this Sunday at Franklin County Speedway.

All one has to do is to take a look at the recent success of our High School teams to fully appreciate how much of a head start that a young swimmer can get by taking to the Pool with the talented people at Tiger Shark 🦈…
