Allen Worrell has got Hops !

The 42 Day journey has officially begun and we are looking forward to seeing so many people that we share interests with but see 👀 to seldom.

We will continue to work with any and all folks that are interested in sending things our way. Our friend Allen Worrell has the key 🔑 to our site to pull any stories he needs to fill space in both the digital and print versions of The Carroll News !

We have a few stops ✋ on our way out of town as the ✈️✈✈️ out to Vancouver, British Columbia isn’t until 6:15 am on Sunday. Stops will include but not be limited to our passion for Duke University.

We hope to share the Trifecta of sporting events with some special people. Game #2 is Duke @ Wake Forest Football 🏈🏈🏈 Saturday at Noon and then back to Durham for the Virginia Tech – Duke Women’s Elite Eight Soccer ⚽️ match at 6pm.

The unofficial Date 📅 for the streak to hit 500 Days straight is Christmas 🎄 Morning 🌄. The goal is to wake ⏰ up and try to make someone else smile each and everyday…..

3 Hours until Tip-off !!!!

The football 🏈 game in Durham Saturday night 🌙 almost ended on Sunday morning instead. We were staying at the Washington Duke Inn and as the norm, we checked to see how we could support the Blue Devils while we were in town ?

Sunday was offering us a Triple Header of Duke University sports starting with the Men’s Soccer ⚽️ team hosting a NCAA opening round game. The Volleyball 🏐 team was going to be playing inside Cameron Indoor Stadium next and the Women’s Soccer team would wrap it up with their Sweet 16 match versus Michigan State.

We could sleep 💤 until Noon and soak in a day of Fun and then head back to Laurel Fork. We were already there so it was going to be a Great Day spent with the 💘 of my Life watching 👀 Sports.

The only line on my Calendar 📅 said three words – Help Vickey Ritchie

To be happy in your life you have to be happy with yourself, its that simple. It helps a great deal to me Married to someone that is on the same page as you are.

We took the time to eat Breakfast at quite possibly our favorite restaurant, checked out early, drove back to Laurel Fork and finally on to Hillsville Elementary School 🏫.

Duke won 🏆 the Women’s game and now has a date 📅 with Virginia Tech on Saturday night 🌙 for a spot in the Final Four.

The tweak to this story is about both commitment and dedication. It’s easy to want and try to support people who display both qualities. Vickey Ritchie has a dumptruck load of both !

Vickey Ritchie, ladies and gentlemen is the REAL DEAL 👏. I feel fortunate to be in her presence anytime that I’m in town and sometimes when I have to get back to town. Neat, Neat Lady 👩 who is earning jewels in her 👑!

Adrienne Harris is still in search of ways to fill the Void of competition after her Collegiate playing days at Emory and Henry came to an end. This week she entered her very first 10K and it should come to no ones surprise that she excelled at it.

Amber Altice from Franklin Co. Amber and Adrienne were teammates and good friends from E&H.

They finished 2nd and 3rd in their age groups

State Volleyball 🏐 Championship Day in Salem, beginning with Auburn playing at Noon for the Class 1 crown 👑. Class 2 and then Class 3 set to follow at the Civic Center.

Alyssa Ervin and Elon University step up to play at Cassell Coliseum versus Virginia Tech.

My checkbook cover for the past 40 years after beginning my career being responsible for Elon College as it was called back then.

Katie Lam and Roanoke College remain in Ashland, Virginia today for another tilt in an early season event. Last night was a rough one for the team against John Hopkins but hopefully they will bounce back.

Elijah Cox and Randolph play at home in Lynchburg at 4pm today.

Duke University Football closes out their home schedule at 8pm tonight when the Blue Devils (7-3) host the Va Tech Hokies. That should wrap up around 11:30 on a cold 🥶 night in Durham.

On the Hill, Anthony Barnes and his Varsity Boys 👦 Basketball 🏀 team will be one of four Cavalier teams playing one of their scrimmage games. Both Boys teams set to play at 10am and both Girls 👧 teams set to follow.

We have Hoops, Volleyball 🏐 and Football 🏈🏈🏈 to keep an eye 👁 on today !
