Lady Cavaliers Softball statement for the Night : We ain’t afraid of no Bobcats !

Carroll County High School Softball team made the trip up to Radford on Tuesday night and bagged the Bobcats 7-3 to earn another Three Rivers District victory!

Addie Greene led the way on a night when her granny πŸ‘΅ was nursing an injury back on The Hill. The story is reminiscent of when Babe Ruth hit a home run for the boy in the Hospital πŸ₯ back in the day.

Greene went the distance inside the circle πŸ”΅, gaining praise from veteran Head Coach Rick Nester.

” Addie pitched incredibly well tonight for us,” said Nester. ” She threw a complete game and excelled at keeping Radford off stride with her change up. “

Greene helped her own cause with a two run triple in the top of the sixth inning as the Cavaliers were shopping for insurance. The three run frame proved to come in handy after Radford plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

While Greene was the only Lady Cavalier to enter the circle, she wasn’t the only player to receive praise from the Skipper.

” Bayleigh Allen made a huge play on a hard hit ball that saved us at least one run, and Holly Miller was making Holly Miller type plays all night,” added Nester. ” Our team executed 100% of our bunt attempts. We even beat a couple of them out for base hits.”

Brooke Webb continues to finish out her playing days in a strong manner. The soon to graduate πŸŽ“ Webb collected a single, one ground rule double and even added one of the bunts Nester was smiling about.

Greene finished up with three hits, and Natalie Burress, Webb and Madison Coleman eached tallied two base knocks. Raylee Goins and Laynie-Jo Leonard rounded out the hit parade with one each.

The Lady Cavaliers finished 3 of 3 in stolen bases, giving the team some much needed MOJO heading down the home stretch. The team returns to Cavalier Park on Thursday night to host Chilhowie and Friday for the rematch with Radford.

I might be able to add a pic or two later.

The Burcham Bunch rolled to a 12-1 victory in Radford, and it’s worth noting that it was a TEAM effort !

First, from the Head Coach :

” Reid threw a great game, and I thought we had a very good night on offense.”

When you win a District road game by double digits, you look for big stats. Reid Horton struck out 13 Bobcats ( out of a possible 18), and the offensive production  came from the entire lineup.

Nine different Cavaliers collected at least one hit and nine different players touched home plate.

Horton and Friends !!!

Congratulations, Coaches & Team

While the Big Kids drove off to the Bobcats den, Donna Nester and I stayed on The Hill with the youngsters, watching two wins πŸ† by a combined 35 -8 over Radford…

Now to Softball :

South of the Boulevard, our Lady Cavaliers rolled behind the right arm of Ava Beamer and the Big Bat of Aspen Aldred !

Beamer added another complete game, racking up seven strikeouts, including four straight and five out of six. The freshman avoided issuing any walks, and the Lady Cavaliers played solid defense behind her.

Kyra Moser reached base in all four at bats, twice by hit by pitch. The second time it happened, it was felt all around the ballpark, but the tough as nails πŸ’… young Lady still made her way to first base.

Miley Crook also reached four times, picking up three singles and one Hit by Pirtch. Crook touched home plate three times on the night πŸŒ™.

Breaking News, no, not really, Ashlynn Smith was hit by a softball, yet again. Addie Lineberry made it to first base all four times and scored twice.

Aldred ripped back to back two run doubles in her first two at bats. She finished the night 2 of 3, two runs scored and four RBI.

The team will enjoy Wednesday off before heading over to Chilhowie for a game on Thursday afternoon and then return home to host Martinsville on Friday.
