Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ is the Season and two of our Neighbors are in need of Thoughts and Prayers – Sherry ๐Ÿ™ brings this one to our attention ๐Ÿ™

Good morning & happy holidays! I come to you asking for an enormous favor.

โ€ƒโ€ƒ These 2 kids were in a horrific head on collision last Saturday. Micah Underwood is home now & recovering.

โ€ƒ Lauren Worley is still in critical condition. Her family is asking for her story be shared for prayers near & far for the brain swelling to go down. Micah attends Floyd High School and Lauren is a student at Patrick County.

Prayers for all involved!

Hey Greg Talley – I think I came close to nailing this jump ball!

Live from St. George, Utah on Day 7/23 of the journey and its time to balance out my Equalityโ€‚meter. The trip has been about football ๐Ÿˆ and sight seeing but today is about Women’s College Basketball ๐Ÿ€.

Utah Tech Trail Blazers are hosting the Oregon Ducks. Utah Tech is a newer name to the game after changing their name from Dixie State University.

It’s raining ๐ŸŒง 3-pointers here and the Trail Blazers lead 44-34 halfway through the 2nd quarter.

Stop โœ‹ the presses, UT 55-38 @ the Half !

โ€‚4:41 (4)- UT 81-77

1:10 – 89/81 UT still up but Oregon gets a quick 5….89/86 (0:29.4)..

Oregon with a steal at 26.3

FT’s at 14.3, 1 of 2, now 90-86

Your Final 92-86 in favor of the Home Standing Trailblazers !

Trenton checks in with more Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ Spirit

Cove Creek Ministries in Wytheville is having their 3rd annual walk through Bethlehem this weekend. Friday and Saturday evening from 5:30-9pm. It’s a great live nativity with a friendly crowd and good food and drinks for everyone! I was fortunate to be able to be a part of it this year and I really enjoyed it this evening(even though it was cold)! It’s a great way to learn more about Cove Creek Ministries as well as seeing a few examples of what Bethlehem may have looked like on that night many years ago when Jesus came to this earth as a baby!

Let the Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ Games Begin ! 11am EST Kickoff each year but there’s a change in the Batting Order in 2023-2024

Today is THE DAY of the Sports World ๐ŸŒŽ for me because its the kickoff for the next month of non-stop โœ‹ College Football games across the Country and up until this year, just outside of our Country (Bahamas ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ).

โ€‚Nassau took center stage each year to kickoff the Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ season at 11am with five or six more games to follow on Opening Saturday. The difference between five or six in the count is ones view on the Celebration Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ in Atlanta. The contest played inside the Mercedes Benz Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ pits two teams from HBCU conferences, making it a slightly different format so most don’t count it amongst the 41.

This year a funny thing happened on the way to Opening Day, in that the Bahamas ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ notified ESPN that their Stadium ๐ŸŸ wouldn’t be ready in time because of some construction issues.

โ€ƒThe Bahamas ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ economy runs 75% to 80% on tourism. Those numbers come from the locals down here and the game has never drawn well because the teams are only announced a few weeks ahead of time and getting here on rather short notice isn’t cheap. The Stadium ๐ŸŸ seats ๐Ÿ’บ less than 20,000 which is plenty big for anything being held here but not that many of the locals are overly excited about the actual Ball game. It will be really Interesting to see if the Bahamas Bowl does actually return ? That’s a question that will be answered next year but this years question is what to do with Western Kentucky and Old Dominion?

โ€‚The day the announcement broke I made a quick short list of U.S. Stadiums that seat less than 20,000 yet have a surplus of Hotel ๐Ÿจ rooms available. The campus Stadium ๐ŸŸ at UNC CHARLOTTE, the Soccer parks in Frisco, Texas and Orlando, Florida were my Top 3. Because of the dates involved Orlando falls from the list as they host to Cure Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ this weekend and Texas would generate more travel expenses for both Schools and fan bases. Charlotte is the landing spot and the folks in the Queen ๐Ÿ‘ธCity were given roughly 3 weeks to pull off what normally takes 6 to 9 months of planning. Famous Toastery tells the story of a 10pm email ๐Ÿ“ง that was believed to be a hoax, asking them if they would be interested in being the name sponsor?

โ€‚The next problem for ESPN was the 11:00 am spot because as my fellow writer/ friend Chris Graham will tell you, its all about the TV ๐Ÿ“บ $$$$$$$!

โ€‚ESPN owns almost every Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ Game outside of the New Years Six and they don’t need people in the stands to sell their advertising spots, they need a product. The next move was to call ๐Ÿ“ž the folks down in Myrtle Beach โ›ฑ and convince them to move their game up two days to the leadoff spot of 11am instead of a stand alone date on Monday. That swap allowed Charlotte an additional 48 hours of prep time.

โ€‚Today’s mission for my writing โœ responsibilities is get out of the Bahamas ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ (possibly for the final time) and get to another Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ Game today.

โ€‚Orlando, New Orleans, Shreveport, Albuquerque and Myrtle Beach โ›ฑ have already been scratched off the Get to Them All Once List so that leaves the Gronkowski Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ out in Hollywood…

2,525 miles away but Gronk is hosting the event and is going to be singing the National Anthem ! Everyone loves ๐Ÿ’˜ Gronk, right ?

โ€‚The most watchable game today is in Orlando (Cure) with Appalachian State University (8-5) versus Miami of Ohio (11-2) followed closely by home standing UCLA vs Boise State playing in the most Sci-Fi Stadium ๐ŸŸ which is named So-Fi. Taylor Swift performed there when she made her film ๐ŸŽฅ of her Eras tour. The outside of it looks like it belongs in the Jetsons.

โ€‚The Carroll County Sports scene is dormat today but we are still hoping to work on the Swim ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธโ€‚results from yesterday.

The remainder of the 2023-2024 Bowl ๐Ÿฅฃ adventure will be reported on the separate page created on our site here – the link will appear up in the Banner

If one is going to travel somewhere to NOT watch a Bowl Game, Nassau isn’t that bad of a landing spot.
