Breakfast with Mitch Reed of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes βœοΈ

The journey to find others that fit under the umbrella πŸŒ‚ of OneofUs.Care is ongoing loop / trek if you will. Let’s start out with the first obvious question – what does that even mean ?

Like so many things in my life I borrowed the name for our Non-profit organization from the writing ✍ of Aaron Sorkin. In an early episode of his second TV show, The West Wing, Sorkin used the line in a scene where Sam Seborn (Rob Lowe) writes a note to Toby Zeigler describing Will Bailey (Joshua Molina) as One of Us.

The term OneofUs will mean something different to every person in Life but in my quest its to find other people that believe that we haven’t Lost yet, that there is still hope that the World we live in can get back on track. I am someone that believes in decency to others is a simple first step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ.

Mitch Reed is another Man πŸ‘¨ that is on a Mission and like the great line from the original Blues Brothers movie πŸŽ₯, Mitch is on a Mission from God.

My path recently crossed with Mr. Reed at a Fund Raiser he was holding up in the Pembroke area a couple of weeks ago. The FCA / Mitch was hosting a Golf β›³ Tournament to raise funds for the Ministry and I jumped at the chance to get involved.

I showed up early that day to introduce myself to Mitch and then proceeded to do what I do, trying hard to use my writing ✍ skills for Positivity. Penned a short story or two about both the Host of the event (Mitch) and Mr. Nick Bell, our fourth that day.

I shared the story later with Mitch and he took the time to share the story with others. Like so many folks that I cross paths with, the encounter was a pleasant experience but there was no guarantee that it would extend past that day.

It was a very pleasant surprise when Mitch reached out and asked about getting together long enough to share a meal and that led to our meeting up on The Hill yesterday morning.

The Fellowship of Christian ✝️ Athletes is a tremendous organization, one that might be as easy to get behind as there is and Mitch is an amazing πŸ‘ Ambassador here in Southwest Virginia. Like any other group or organization its strength comes in numbers and that is one of Mitch’s tasks, team building.

The tag line to our Organization is ” Encouraging the World 🌎, One person at a time.” That line describes the day 2 day journey for us, really believing that kindness and mutual respect is the First Step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ in making a difference. Mitch is criss crossing the Region looking to add members to his ever growing Team and he gets how important inclusion is. One can get involved with the FCA in one of three categories – Prayer, Funding and Participation – my words, not the official verbiage.

The common denominator for both Mitch and myself is we are trying hard to make the World 🌎 a better place as a whole and our local communities in particular. We both are taking the Sports industry at the High School and College level and having it be the Vessel or Vehicle we use to pursue our version of the Greater Good.

Mitch is searching for the next Tim Tebow and the next Dabo Sweeney, ambassadors for Christ. My search is for the next Marty Smith in that we need to focus on our Youth because as corny as it sounds, they are our Future. We owe it to them to prepare them for the challenges that await them after they graduate πŸŽ“ from High School 🏫.

I will close with one fun part of our searching – Tim Tebow is someone that I have as a Role Model and we support his efforts with his Foundation and it turns out that Mitch has a history with Marty Smith. Its the making of an old school 🏫 Reeces Penut Butter Cup commercial !

Mitch Reed is a Man πŸ‘¨ on a Mission, a Mission for God. If you cross paths with Mitch, please offer your encouragement πŸ™ !

In our neighborhood series – Tanglewood Park is just $2 to enter and there’s a Boat 🚒 Load of things to do !

Just a little over 1 hour South, down in Clemmons, North Carolina sits a monstrous size park for all ages.

Welcome πŸ™ to Wednesday – We have Day 3 of the Girls πŸ‘§ Basketball πŸ€ Camp but first a few from Day 2 of our Trek thru The Ozarks !

The trek keep rolling on but there’s still time to keep up with the Inbox πŸ“₯ from back home.

Sitting in the License to Chill Bar and Grill, which in the morning πŸŒ„ time doubles as the Margaritaville Coffee β˜• Shop. Sipping on a Diet Coke and enjoying the sites and sounds of the recently deceased Jimmy Buffett.

The JB in me still sees πŸ‘€ the other JB as the greatest storyteller of my lifetime.

This morning we stumbled across Barbies Pink convertible and we couldn’t pass up the photo op.

Last Night πŸŒ™ it was off to Springfield for some Double A baseball ⚾️ between the Cardinals and the Corpus Christi nine.

File this one under ” We Love Buccee” or ” We don’t get out much”

This one is for Bill Gallimore !

We even ventured South of the Border yesterday morning.

Kayla is back at Camp for Day #3 and we will start a new running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ post here in a smidgen.
