Say a Prayer for the town of Boone, North Carolina πŸ™ as the storm continues to make life difficult for the Mountaineers

Sitting in the dark out here in our place in Laurel Fork, the end time of departure for me was closing in on tonights Field Hockey πŸ‘ game. I had been a little surprised by the fact that the game was still on the schedule with every weather report saying that Boone was at the highest danger level in regards to flooding.

The alarm ⏰ on my Cellphone went off a few minutes ago and then it made a separate update, this one from the Score sports app.

Liberty University was scheduled to travel to Boone tomorrow for a non-conference Football 🏈 game and it was just Canceled versus postponed.

Right afterwards, I checked the Field Hockey page and the message of Canceled was there as well. But the Sunday home game is still showing active.

Cancelation of a Field Hockey πŸ‘ game is hardly newsworthy to anyone other than the teams themselves and their friends and families. But for App State to cancel a Football game will cost both the School and the Business community Millions of Dollars πŸ’΅.

Hence, it has to be very, very Bad in Boone right now for that decision to be made 24 hours ahead of time.

So while we are praying for our Electricity to return πŸ™, keeping the folks in Boone and other places like it in our thoughts and Prayers as well!

Kelsey Plum leads the Aces into the WNBA Final Four as the team tries to Three Peat !

Plum was held to a season low two points in Game One but it was back to business as usual in the Game 2 closeout of the Seattle Storm.

The 5’6 University of Washington guard πŸ’‚β€β™‚οΈ finished with 29 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Stewie and the #1 seed New York Liberty πŸ—½ also closed out their first round opponent, #8 Atlanta. This sets up a must see πŸ‘€ rematch of last years Finals – Las Vegas versus NY.

Two major changes this time around though, first being the Liberty will hold the home court advantage and the winner πŸ† will still have unfinished business after the series ends.

East Coast versus West Coast

Aja Wilson versus Bre Stewart

Big Apple 🍎 vs Sin City

Kelsey Plum versus Sabrina Ionescu

It’s going to be a Show, let’s hope that it goes the Full Five !

Giving up the 1st quarter of Duke’s Football 🏈🏈 🏈 for CCHS Volleyball 🏐 was an easy choice !

Blue Devils did okay without me, scoring 28 points in the first quarter after giving up a TD in the first 90 seconds.

Each season its about trying to get to the six win mark, something that Duke has accomplished in just 10 times in my 61 years. This year it was imperative to open 4-0 before heading into the Conference games and it would appear that we have a good shot at doing just that.

Duke leads 35-10 at the half as the Blue Devils scored 21 points on three short fields after forcing fumbles.

Some of the teams that looked scary on the coming schedule don’t look quite as scary. Southern Methodist, Wake Forrest, Florida State, Virginia, North Carolina State, UNC and Virginia Tech could all very well defeat Duke but each team has shown some kinks in their armor. Miami still looks like an huge road test.

Second Half –

Duke – Long Drive, Field Goal

MTSU – Punt, pinned Duke inside the 10.

Duke – 3 and out, before Punt, we have a lightning 🌩 delay at 6:30…

[With just under 6 minutes left in the third quarter and Duke leading 38-10, a storm settled over Murfreesboro and caused a weather delay of about 1 hour, 42 minutes.]

Flying Eagles Softball will be in action 🎬 this Sunday versus the HeatersU18 squad. Macie Adkins and friends will take to the Diamond πŸ’Ž at 1&3 in Cedar Bluff!

This Sunday afternoon is the second in a series of Fall Ball games being played by the Southwest Virginia Community College Softball team.

Weekend #2 of 7 presents the best opportunity to check up on Macie and her fledgling ball club. This is year 2 of 2 for Macie and we are hoping πŸ™ for nothing but the Best for this Amazing young Lady πŸ‘©

When you can’t get up to Athens, Ohio…ESPN+ is the answer πŸ‘ App State Field Hockey πŸ‘

The rare Friday at home 🏑 because our Ladies are up in Athens, Ohio for our MAC opener at Ohio University.

Not making the drive down to Boone doesn’t mean a total disconnect from Head Coach Emily Dinsmore and our Lady Mountaineers.

First Touch was High Noon and App State closed out the first quarter with a 1-0 lead after Charlotte Bosma found the back of the Net !

We have an off day on Sunday ( Friday & Sunday are Game Days) so the outcome of today’s match will have a carry over effect. ASU exploded for 7 goals last Sunday at Davidson to even our record at 3-3.

Next Friday we will welcome Bellarmine to The Rock. Yes, I absolutely borrowed The Hill from The Rock. Just trying to make things more fun for our Student Athletes.

@ 12:02 of the 2nd quarter its time for Another App State Corner !!

@ 12:42, again but its still 1-0.

@ 12:46 – third time wasn’t the charm.

App State tied for the regular season Championship last year in Coach Dinsmore’s rookie season in the Top Spot and a victory today would be a great starting point.

12:42 – Headed to the 10:00 halftime with a 1-0 lead !

3rd Quarter – Florine Koopman put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 shortly after the break so now its 2-0 ! Koopman is one of three starters for us from The Netherlands πŸ‡³πŸ‡±…

Bridget Donovan fires a Lazer that dings off the cross bar, Loudly !

1:12 pm – End of the 3rd quarter, App State leads 2-0!!

October 13th is a BIG DAY for the program as the Tar Heels are making the trek over to The Rock. UNC currently sits at #2 in the Nation and have a barn full of National Championship πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†.

We are playing again and its time to give props πŸ‘ to the defense !

5:43 – Donovan with another great look…

@ 9:24 of the 4th, its time for a fifth App State Corner ! Great look from Boekaar.

10:05 – Penalty Shot for ASU, great save, 10th one for the Bobcats keeper.

Final three minutes at Pruitt Field.

Final Score – 2/0, shots 12/2

Hope the Bus 🚌 πŸ™ ride back to Boone is as smooth as possible !!
