It would be easy to harp on the fact that the ” Experts ” tabbed the 2025 – 2026 Lady Paladins to finish fifth in the eight team Socon but Head Coach Pierre Curtis has bigger goals for his team. There is a glimmer of hope that Furman University could be playing opposite UT – Chattanooga in a few weeks in Ashville with a ticket π to the Big Dance π on the line.
Yes, Chattanooga finished off its season sweep of Furman last night but Curtis received what he needed from his Ladies, especially Claire Coyle and Alyssa Ervin. If you are fortunate enough to play UT-C for a third time, you have to believe that you belong on the court with them.
Nine β minutes into the contest last night Furman was still searching for its first made basket π§Ί.

Two things that you know that UT-C is they play relentless defense and pound the boards. Both of those strong πͺ suites were on display last night in the opening 10:00. The team breaks the will of their opponent and usually runs away and hides from them.
Not last night, Furman exposed a rare flaw or kink in the armor if you will. Notice the six in the steals column on the stat sheet for Ervin. Curtis needs his team to believe that they could win Round 3 and advance to the Promise Land. Remember that this Furman squad is one that will not lose anyone to graduation after the season and are still playing short handed.
One of the keys π to the remaining conference schedule is for the Paladins to remain in the #2 or #3 spot. Doing so will allow them to avoid the Mocs until the lights go down and the stage is set on Championship Monday !
