Boys 👦 Soccer ⚽️ Senior Night 🌙 turns out to be Pitch Perfect for the Cavaliers as they sandwich 🥪 shutouts around the Ceremony penned for a party of 10!

Everything came up roses 🌹 for the Carroll County Boys Soccer ⚽️ program Monday night. The weather could have been a few degrees warmer but the Pitch and the fans stayed dry from start to finish as CCHS found the back of the net seven times across the 140 combined minutes while keeping James  firmly planted at Nil.

Jeremy Puckett and the Junior Varsity team opened the night 🌙 with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Knights. The Cavaliers opened the scoring with 4:58 remaining in the first half when Christian Solis Ruiz found Alex Silva with a touch pass and the Sophomore beat the keeper for the only goal in the opening 30 minutes.

James River pressed throughout the second half for the equalizer and the match was hanging in the balance until Joni Rosales found Luis Silva for an excuse me goal that rolled in past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.

In the final minute of play Yerik Ruano Loayes finished off the scoring on a pass from Axel Valencia Martinez. Cavalier keeper Fernando Ruiz was credited with the shutout victory.

JV Head Coach Jeremy Puckett and his younger Son, Aden had to quickly go from the handshake line to the pagent line as older brother, Landon Puckett was one of 10 Seniors being honored in between games.

In order of presentation :

Christian Hernandez, Harper Parnell, Julian Magana, Samuel Collins, Mazzen Mansour, Thomas Payne, Giovanni and Oliver Lopez, Landon Puckett and Daniel Torres – Lopez were each greeted warmly   by the Cavalier faithful.

Carroll County dominated possession across the entire 80 minutes of play and managed to put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 twice each half.

The first Cavalier goal came at 27:06 remaining in the opening half and involved a pair of Seniors. Torres-Lopez connected with Landon Puckett for the opening score. Ten minutes and some change later, Puckett found Sophomore Hez Mejia on his way towards the goal and the 2-0 lead would last until the halftime break.

The Cavaliers third goal of the match came after CCHS was awarded a penalty kick after a Knight foul was committed inside the box. Oliver Lopez took the PK and at 32:22 the score flipped to 3-0.

Carroll County rounded out the scoring column at 27:34 when Giovanni Lopez teamed up with Torres – Lopez for the final goal. One lighter moment was created a few minutes later when Torres-Lopez and Keeper Christian Hernandez teamed up for an on the fly position swap. The entertaining couple of minutes looked a bit like one of the marketing events at many a College Baseball game where youngsters have to dress themselves in gear and then make a basket.

Both players enjoyed their new roles and Torres – Lopez duplicated the ever so rare feat of making a save, scoring a goal and recording an assist in the same Soccer ⚽️ match. Ironically, it was Hernandez that accomplished the rare version of a Goalie Hat 👒 Trick earlier this season.

While the night was Pitch Perfect, the team will have little time to celebrate as they head over to Galax tomorrow before returning to Tommy Thompson Field on The Hill for another match on Thursday.

The contest on Thursday is youth night as any Youth Soccer ⚽️ player wearing his jersey gets into the match free of charge. RGC Realty and the Laurel Fork Coconut 🥥 Telegraph teamed up to provide FREE ADMISSION to all fans on Monday night.
