If Tuesday was about Snow ❄ in the Hills, Wednesday is about Ice 🧊 in the trees 🌳 and on the power lines.

Here’s what we know about Wednesday at this point, there’s no School today and the only thing that was / is on the schedule for today is Boys Basketball at Radford High School.

Marion Harris was able to add that the Swimming πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ meet from Tuesday night has been moved to Thursday night πŸŒ™

The difference between a few degrees on a day like today is humongous so its easy to think warm. On a personal note πŸ“, the power out here has flickered a number of times this morning – Ice is not our friend.

If anymore updates become available we will add it right here.

There’s snow ❄ in them there Hills on a Tuesday morning πŸŒ„…Girls Basketball πŸ€ moved to 2/20 and will become Varsity only. No word yet on Swimming.

Bill Gallimore was the first to inform me that our Just Say No plan was flawed as he reported three inches or so out his way. I’m not sure how much is out our window but I’m sure its going to get worse before it gets better.

Once again, the Girls Junior Varsity team will lose an opportunity to play a game together as the makeup game for tonight will be next week and be Varsity only.

When the schedule πŸ“… was originally released it was designed to have the regular season end tomorrow. But the amount of games that had to be pushed back forced games to be slated in the dormant window between the end of the season and the beginning of the Regional tournaments.

The Girls πŸ‘§ JV has lost opportunities to teams because they don’t have JV ( Martinsville and Glenvar) plus one to team illnesses and now at least one to late season scheduling.

The big question now is whether or not we can catch a break with the weather forecast going forward. The remainder of the week is full of games waiting to be played and that will depend upon the next 24 hours.

Say a πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ for the VDOT crews that will switch over to Around the Clock ⏰ shifts in hopes of keeping us safe. Probably wouldn’t hurt to say one for Kevin DeHaven as our Athletic Director continues to try and put square pegs into round holes.

Friday night Glenvar was our foe, Monday night they are our Friend as they try to hand Alleghany a third TRD loss…

Glenvar has hit four early 3’s and have raced out to a big lead after 1st quarter, 16-9.

If the Highlanders can hold on the Cavaliers will have a two game cushion with three games to play.

Stay tuned…

2nd quarter belonged to the Cougars, 17-7 as Glenvar just went cold πŸ₯Ά.

Alleghany leads 26-23 at the break (7:40)

End of 3rd plays out with Glenvar missing a lay-up at 0:05 and Alleghany going the length of the floor with the rebound… 8:00 to play, Cougars 41-40

Glenvar TO, down 51-50 with 4:53 left…

Teams exchange 3’s, TO – 2:31, Cougars 58-57

TO – 1:40, Glenvar 61-58 after QB scores two straight buckets.

What a Game !!

TO – 0:27, Glenvar 61-58 with possession

TO – 0:14, Glenvar 62-58

8:33 – Glenvar locks πŸ” it down defensively at the end, win 62-58.

Cavaliers are now up 2 with 3 to play !!

Carroll Co    8-1 (-) 3 games left

Floyd Co      7-3 (1.5) 2 games left

Alleghany    6-3 (3.0) 3 games left

Glenvar HS  7-4  (3.0) 1 game left

Up to the minute…

2/12 – Floyd County at Alleghany

2/13 – Carroll County at Radford

2/14 – Carroll County at James River

2/18 – Alleghany at Carroll County

2/19 – James River at Alleghany

We will open Monday morning πŸŒ„ up with ” Just Say No”

I believe that the line ” Just Say No ” was created to prevent Drug Abuse but this week I think it should be used in response to our upcoming weather forecast.

It’s simply not a convenient time for another Winter Storm in my World or the World of all of the Spring Coaches that are chomping at the bit to start their seasons.

Not a good time for our Athletic Director, Kevin DeHaven, who just finished digging out from all of the previous schedule changes.

Not a good time for Anthony Barnes and his Basketball train that has been picking up steam.

Not a good time for our Junior Varsity Girls Basketball team who would enjoy playing a game after an extended period of time.

Not a good time for Lawrence Nesselrodt and the Golden Bears Baseball team ahead of a busy week of home games.

Teachers want to teach, Students want to learn, Athletes want to compete and Coaches want to Coach.

So what are our options ? Just Say No πŸ™Š

No to Mother Nature and her plans for us.

Enough is Enough, take your storm out to Sea, we have things to do and people to see.

Just Say No – is anyone with me on this ?

February 10th was a blank slate on the CCHS schedule but tomorrow night was / is a Girls πŸ‘§ Basketball πŸ€ Home game but now we have to add those two dreaded words – Weather Permitting…
