Blue Devils did okay without me, scoring 28 points in the first quarter after giving up a TD in the first 90 seconds.
Each season its about trying to get to the six win mark, something that Duke has accomplished in just 10 times in my 61 years. This year it was imperative to open 4-0 before heading into the Conference games and it would appear that we have a good shot at doing just that.
Duke leads 35-10 at the half as the Blue Devils scored 21 points on three short fields after forcing fumbles.
Some of the teams that looked scary on the coming schedule don’t look quite as scary. Southern Methodist, Wake Forrest, Florida State, Virginia, North Carolina State, UNC and Virginia Tech could all very well defeat Duke but each team has shown some kinks in their armor. Miami still looks like an huge road test.
Second Half –
Duke – Long Drive, Field Goal
MTSU – Punt, pinned Duke inside the 10.
Duke – 3 and out, before Punt, we have a lightning 🌩 delay at 6:30…
[With just under 6 minutes left in the third quarter and Duke leading 38-10, a storm settled over Murfreesboro and caused a weather delay of about 1 hour, 42 minutes.]
The match started roughly 5 minutes early as Gate City was leading 5-2. CC has rallied back to tie it up at 11-11.
