Whether its Junior Varsity, Varsity or on a College Campus, every name you announce is someones Son or Daughter…Here’s an amazing story about a young lady πŸ‘© that plays Keeper for Georgetown Field Hockey πŸ‘πŸ’…

It was a fun moment when I was climbing up the stairs of the Appalachian State press box this morning and realized that KK Newman had scored a goal for Bluefield in their 8-1 victory. Miss Newman played Soccer ⚽️ at Carroll County High School prior to my arrival here but that didn’t keep me from smiling about it.

The joy comes from the fact that KK is the daughter of Mr & Mrs Newman and sister of Ashlyn Newman. That is where the bigger story lies. See, everyone that plays High School or College sports belongs to a parent or two. They aren’t there to be jeered or mocked but respected as an opponent. Getting their names correct is just as important as the ones on the Home team !

Her name is pronounced Ella Fay-Hee and the Sophomore was the Goal Keeper today for visiting Georgetown. If you look closely πŸ‘€ at the photo πŸ“· of the scoreboard you will notice that we out shot the Hoyas 42-5. Not a typo, 42-5 over 60 minutes is as lopsided as a game can get but this young Lady managed to fend of 39 of the 42 shots !!!

The team climbed back onto their chartered Bus 🚌 for the 7-8 ride back to our Nation’s capital. The team dropped a 3-0 contest to our 2-0 team but know this, Fahey made some stops βœ‹ today that would have made Tim Howard blush.

It was fun to watch Fahey play today and I am sure she will feel pretty sore tomorrow. See, our Ladies are very talented and those shots were close range efforts. It was fortunate that Fahey was not able to get to our third goal as Henriette Stegen fired a Nolan Ryan fastball to the back of the net to ice the game.

The day began in Durham, switched over to Boone and then through Galax on the way home. Seeing the movie πŸŽ₯ The Forge capped off a great day and the whole thing started when I heard about someones Daughter scoring a Soccer ⚽️ goal !

Glad I introduced Fahey correctly and I hope her Mom πŸ‘© and Dad πŸ‘¨ are proud of her !
