Congratulations πππ to our Baseball βΎοΈ program !!!

Alleghany is in town tonight to open Three Rivers District play and our Cavaliers are ready to start the new year off on a positive note !

Head Coach Jason Stockner has called his first TO, down 9-6 (2:06).
The game started out on a positive as Dane Leonard scored two early baskets but Alleghany’s 2-3 zone started to cause the Cavaliers all sorts of trouble on the offensive end of the floor.
Alleghany stretched its lead to 19-6 by the end of the first seven minutes of play.

Dane and Colton both scored six points for the Cavaliers in the first half but the team is on the short end of a 34-12 score at the Half.
Two positives from the first half, first the Cavaliers went straight at the Cougars, even after falling behind by a considerable margin. Second, Stockner tried a number of combinations with his lineup as 10 of the 15 Cavs dressed played in the opening 11 minutes.

6:06 pm – Start of the 2nd half…. AHS starts out where they left off. Trace Reavis hit a quick 3-pointer for the Cavs but the Cougars countered with 10 straight points.

Cavs getting ready for a line change.
Before the change took place the Cavs outscored the Cougars 11-2 to pull within 50-28!
Third quarter goes in the books π with the Cougars taking the frame 19-16. Colton scored 8 of the 16 and has 14 of the 28.

In the Student Section is a young Lady π© that I haven’t had an opportunity to Congratulate on HUGE DAY in Charleston

47 points…… Impressive stuff…

Team has 50, Davis has 25! All seven that have played have scored in the 50-33 first half !

Cavs take the 3rd 28-21 and lead 78-54 with 8:00 to play!

Point #30 for Davis !
2:45 remains, Cavs 86-58

8:04 pm – Final Cavs 91-61 !

Good Night from the Hill… time to go back to Florida and get my Bride π°

#21 – State of Virginia
#4 – Class 3

Three Rivers District play opens up tonight against the Great unknown that is the new look Alleghany Cougars. Both of the teams in the fall were noticeably better ( Football, Volleyball) after the school merged with former County rival Covington so its easy to expect the same with the Hoops.
βPlay is set to start at 5:30 pm with our Junior Varsity squad playing first.

βEnjoy January 1st as it will be the rare Day this month that doesn’t have any of our seven current teams participating in game / match / meet action π¬.
βCoach Anthony Barnes and his Cavaliers team are scheduled to take the floor three times in the next four days beginning with a home π‘ game versus Alleghany High School Tuesday night. The JV Boys π¦ will also see action Tuesday, Wednesday (@ Glenvar) and Friday (@ Floyd County).
βWrestling Coach West Long is set to compete at π‘π for a second and third time this season in the coming days. This will conclude their home portion of the schedule π .
βThe Girls π§ Basketball π program will also be busy this week after returning from South Carolina. Wednesday night is set for their trip to Alleghany and Friday evening has them playing Glenvar. The Junior Varsity team has been on the sidelines since they completed their 3 game sweep at Fort Chiswell two weeks ago.
Sandwiched in between is a contest on Thursday evening that I’m not completely sure about all of the details just yet. Hoping that someone can fill in the blanks on the Covenant contest.
βThe Boys π¦ and Girls π§ Swim πββοΈ teams are set to return to the pool at the end of the week as well !
βEnjoy your day, maybe with the five College Football πππππ Bowl games or just enjoying the Family πͺ. Then get yourself ready for what promises to be a very busy January !
