From Kevin :

33 to 5 at the half. Relentless defense is smothering Alleghany. They are having a hard time getting the ball across mid-court.

Boys πŸ‘¦ still up 9 at the Half…

Greg is in the Gym now ahead of the Varsity and sends in a scoreboard shot to accompany my notes πŸ“. Feel comfortable saying that I’m the only person watching this game inside the Orlando Airport !

Our Girls πŸ‘§ just held Alleghany to 1 point in the second quarter πŸ‘

Two more updates from Kevin as the Girls πŸ‘§ finished 4 quarters before the Girls finished 3rd.

39 to 7 Cavs after 3. Smothering defense. Alleghany is visibly frustrated with every turnover.

Final Lady Cavs 47 and Alleghany 12!!!!! Congrats πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

4th quarter wasn’t kind to the Cavaliers.

Carroll County Boys πŸ‘¦ Basketball πŸ€ plays its most complete game of the season last night πŸŒ™, rolling to a running clock victory over Alleghany, 91-61.

Davis Reitzel netted 25 of his game high 32 points in the first half Tuesday night as Carroll County opened Three Rivers District play in grand style, defeating Alleghany 91-61.

The Cougars looked very confident in the opening minutes, hitting a pair of 3- pointers and building a 10-7 lead but the Cavaliers answered in Grand style by scoring the next 17 points in what felt to be a blink of an eye.

Reitzel started the run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ with an old fashioned three point play and Bryce Smoot (17 points) followed with the first of his four 3-,pointers. Isaiah Easter (15 points) was next with back to back drives to the baskets to make it 10 straight points. Reitzel with a follow up basket ahead of a pair of free throws from Ethan Richardson and Reitzel closed the run with another And One to make the score 24-10 with just over a minute remaining in the opening quarter. Head Coach Anthony Barnes watched his team score 26 in the opening frame and finish with 50 in the opening half.

” We still got the train rolling , we continue to apply pressure and get free into transition, we are shooting the ball extremely well for a high school team from the floor, ” Barnes said. ” We shot over 50% overall and 40% from 3point line.”

Reitzel scored 14 in the first quarter by banging the glass on both ends of the floor before going outside in the second quarter. The Senior connected on consecutive 3-pointers and then added a third one just a couple of possessions later. Reitzel shined from start to finish but there was plenty of scoring from the rest of the Cavaliers as all five starters scored at least six points..

”Davis right now seems in another planet, another zone 32 points 10 rebounds, the bench guys coming in with Brayden Smoot and Cody Reece with fire and intensity they both bring on defensive end, ” added Barnes. ” Bryce with 17 and Easter with 15. The Cavalier train rolls on !”

The third quarter went start to finish with action and CCHS had 28 points to show for their efforts. Reitzel energized the crowd with a put back dunk while Richardson, Jabin Talley and Bryce Smoot each connected from deep. The lead was at 78-54 heading into the fourth quarter and Easter created a piece of basketball history. The Sophmore became the fifth starter to make at least one 3-pointer in the same contest.

When the lead reached 30 (91-61) the rules dictated the clock would continue to run. While it was only for the final minute of play it became the perfect stamp on an unimaginable night of basketball.

The Cavalier JV team fell to Alleghany 71-34 as the Cougars presented match up problems and played a 2-3 zone to perfection. Colton Gravely led the team in scoring with 14 points and was joined in double figures by Dane Leonard (10 points). All 15 Cavaliers that dressed for the game played and six made it into the scoring column.

Both teams will return to action 🎬 tonight as they travel up to Glenvar High School for another Three Rivers District contest.

Hopefully Allen Worrell will run the story and Coach Barnes will add his Box Score to it. The team is playing Basketball πŸ€ right now and it will be interesting to see πŸ‘€ how far the Train πŸš† ride lasts !
