125 pitches on Thursday and 116 more on Friday from Sydney Nester gets Marshall a spot in the Sun Belt Championship game today at 2pm

Despite winning 40+ plus games in the regular season the Thundering Herd were being told that they would need to win three straight games in the sweltering Louisiana heat to secure an invitation to the Field of 64.

Thursday Ace pitcher and Carroll County graduate Sydney Nester needed 125 pitches to defeat Coastal Carolina. Roughly 24 hours later Nester headed back to the circle again to face South Alabama in hopes of keeping the dream of just the third post season trip in the schools history.

116 pitches later (241 in two days) later Marshall has earned the right to play for the title and the automatic bid that comes with it. In their way is Top Seed and tournament host Louisiana.

First Pitch is set for 2pm ET / 1pm CT
