Travis Osborne and his Bible Verse of the Day :

John 15:4  Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

There are only so many places one can be in the continental United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ and have the distance be greater than it is today.

Travis Osborne and his Bible Verse of the Day showed up at the exact πŸ™Œ second it needed to be inserted this morning. Just a God thing πŸ™πŸ™Œ.

Closing in on 900 consecutive days of creating something positive to read in the morning to start their day, sometimes the challenge is greater than others.

I know there were two exciting NFL playoff games yesterday and those would be easy to write ✍ about but that doesn’t accomplish any of my objectives

Display at the SFO Airport yesterday afternoon tells us about a Big Game that’s going to be played here in a few weeks.

Kristy Jones capture from yesterday

The number  one challenge that presented itself a few years back when I downsized the list of things that I would include on my site to whats going on right in front of me is that everyone involved has their own agenda πŸ“‹ when it comes to wanting coverage.

For some, they want to be left alone and just do their job.

For others, if it doesn’t happen on Facebook then it doesn’t count.

The next group falls into the category of its not in-line News than it doesn’t exist.

The next group of folks still want to pick up a Newspaper πŸ“° and read about things around them.

At the end of the day, I have no control over anything other than what I believe and thats what I run with every Morning when I wake up and start typing on my site.

Right around 1,100 folks took a look see πŸ‘€ and the things that were created here the past 48 hours. Those numbers are plenty for a person who has a tag line of ” Encouraging the World 🌎, one person at a Time “

Later today I will walk πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ through the doors πŸšͺ of the final Gymnasium on a list of College buildings that I hoped to see a Basketball game at. Maples 🍁 Pavillion in Palo Alto. It promises to be an exciting time for Lin and I but per the norm, I will stop βœ‹ what I’m doing to create a post / story if someone sends something our way.

I will wrap this up by sharing a Photo πŸ“· sent in by Israel Easter. We will call πŸ“ž it, Dads πŸ‘¨ are proud too !

Have yourself a Blessed Day πŸ™Œ

Making great use of our PHX layover by multi tasking as Lin watches the Duke Men, I watch Alyssa Ervin and Furman βž• Kristy Jones starts with photos πŸ“· from Wrestling! Saved by the Bell πŸ””: Our Fab 5

We are closing in on our 41st Wedding πŸ’’ Anniversary and the main thing that works for us is Lin understanding  my passion for helping others ❀, whenever possible.

Furman University is facing the favorite in the Southern Conference ( Chattanooga) and on the road so we knew it would be an uphill climb. The Paladins trailed 31 – 12 before closing the first half on a 5-0 run to make it 31-17.

Ervin with 12 minutes played and 3 points scored at the half.

Working πŸ’ͺ with Kristy Jones has been an absolute pleasure and getting to help West Long at the same time is a Bonus!

Wrestling will get its own post πŸ“« later but wanted to sneak in the picturesπŸ“· early.

Furman University battles back and wins the 3rd quarter, 18-16. Cut the deficit to 40-30 at one point and trail by 12 after three(47-35).

The shots are not falling today for our Lady Cavalier which means dig deep and find other ways to help your team.

Chattanooga plays suffocating defense from start to finish, holding our Ladies to under 30% from the floor for the game.

Coyle 3/14 , Ervin 2/14 and McGowens 0/6 = not our day against the league favorite in their house but still fun to root, root, root for the Lady Paladins !
Next ✈️✈✈️✈

Had to give Lin some space because she is about the Duke University Men’s program in the manner I am about the Football team and Women’s Basketball team.

Good News from the other side of the Airport!

More Saved by the Bell πŸ””: The Cavalier College Years coverage and it comes with a sigh of relief. Elijah Cox had been starting at Randolph College most of the season but his name was absent last time out, leaving me worried that something was wrong.

Great news in that Cox was back out there representing The Hill !

Our Smoot Brothers

Whether its Ervin, Cox, Katie Lam or Bryce and Brayden Smoot, all five are former Cavalier playing at the next level. All five represented Carroll County High School 🏫 in a positive manner and I do my best to show each of them that I still care about their future.

With that said, I have no inside information from the Colleges or Coaches as the season plays out. Just doing my best to show that we still see πŸ‘€ them !!

Speaking of Miss Lam,

Her game will take place during our final ✈️ and I will circle πŸ”΅ back with some notes πŸ“

Katie Lam
Wow, did Bobby Hurley need that one !

The next leg 🦡of the trip is a 76 minute ✈️ to Phoenix 🏜🏝, so we have 76 minutes to tell you about Head Coach Howard Mayo and our Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers !

The family πŸ‘ͺ tree 🌳 of Lady Cavaliers is shown above and while the Kris Richardson led Middle School team is already dreaming about next year, Hailey Cushman and her JV team opened the road doubleheader in Dublin Friday night with yet another ” W”.

The margin of victory was a wide one as the Lady Cavaliers finished up with a 56-33 score. The only damper to the effort was a fourth quarter ankle injury that we will pray πŸ™ involves a speedy recovery.

The team has suffered just one setback this season and will look to continue to build for the future next week ( Monday night at 5:30 pm) when Cave Spring charges The Hill.

Next up : The thoughts of Coach Mayo and the effort he received from our Lady Cavaliers.

” During our game last night we show some signs if becoming the team we can be. We got off to a sluggish start with Pulaski jumping out to a early double figure lead..then we set into the game and had the lead cut to 8 points in the 2nd quarter with possession of the ball and miss a couple of shots and Pulaski scored, taking the lead back up to double figures by halftime. In the second half Pulaski jump back out to a big lead. We struggle to make some shots against the zone. We compete for the whole game. We have a big week with 3 games next week. “

Pulaski County stared the game fast, applying pressure on the Lady Cavaliers from the get-go and as Coach mentioned, CCHS trailed by double figures before scoring their first points of the game.

Wow, would it have been easy to just lower your heads but what this group lacks in Basketball experience, they make up for it in toughness.

For those who are new to the game of Girls Basketball at Carroll County High School, its the Family πŸ‘ͺ in many ways.

Coach Mayo and a handful of others, including Ron Cochran, poured the foundation and built the House that is Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers Basketball. The top level of success, highlightd by the Back 2 Back State Championships, was not a case of overnight success. Coach earned a spot in the Carroll County High School Hall of Fame before moving on to find success at a few other High Schools. The victory total sits in the vicinity of 500 now and we are fortunate that he has returned in hopes of rebuilding the program.

We mentioned Family, Ron Cochran had a daughter (one of five Kiddos ) named Brandi (Cochran – Mitchell now). You cannot make a list of people who have worked non-stop for the good of the program and not have this former Hoops 🌟in the Top 3. AAU leader and a lengthy run as Varsity Assistant Coach before adding possibly the most significant title, the one as Proud Mama of CC Mitchell.

Shelia Harris played for Coach Mayo back in the day and now supports her youngest daughter, Half Pint, from the bleachers.

Patti Goins is doing double duty as proud Mother πŸ‘© of current Lady Cavalier, Raylee Goins and as Mom to another former star 🌟 βž• Assistant Coach, Kayla Nester.

Ms Whitaker is still playing a large role with the team as she has been for what seems like decades now.

My own personal description of Coach is someone that I wish our paths could cross on a more frequent basis. Coach is a basketball purist and as I type this on my way to Maples 🍁 Pavillion, he knows what the building means to the game that we both Love.

The ✈️✈✈️ is about to land in Phoenix so I will wrap this up by typing this. Mayo didn’t win last night, might nor win on Monday night but don’t bet against him with folks like Cushman, Richardson and Cochran – Mitchell working with our youth !

In Mayo, We Trust….
