Floyd – Natalie Morris scored 12 of her game high 23 points in the third quarter to lead Floyd County to a 53 – 28 victory over visiting Carroll County in Three Rivers District play.

C.C Mitchell scored the final four points of the second quarter to pull the Lady Cavaliers (2-7) to within 22-16 at the break but Davis proved to be too much after the intermission.

Raylee Goins conjured up memories of her older Sister during her playing days by scoring eight points in the opening four βž• minutes. The outburst included a pair of 3-pointers and allowed the Lady Cavaliers to lead the home team 9-7 after the first quarter.

Floyd County opened the second quarter on a 10 -1 run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ and was set to put the game out of reach before Mitchell gave Carroll County hope heading into the final 16:00 minutes.

Davis did her damage inside the lane and much of the damage was done on second and third chances. The offensive boards proved to be the difference between winning and losing.

” It was a tough game for us tonight aa we didnt shot the ball well as we where 11-51 from the floor and still had too many turnovers with 20,” said Head Coach Howard Mayo. ” We gave her way too many offensive rebounds,  Floyd having close to 20.”

The shooting percentage could be directly connected to the defense being played by the home team. Very few of the 51 attempts were fall into the category of uncontested.

Carroll County played hard right up until the final horn and Coach has some things he will work on before his Lady Cavaliers travel to Radford on Friday night.
