It seemed like it was just yesterday that I walked into the Auxiliary Gym and saw Nikki Heflin and Sheila Harris working πŸ’ͺ out the Junior Varsity team yet tonight it was time to say our Goodbyes πŸ‘‹ to our JV players..

At the beginning of tryouts…

To start this final story with anything other than how elegant the three members of the JV team πŸ’™ spoke about their Coaches  during a pre-match ceremony would be an injustice. Kudos to the team for creating πŸ‘ a tug at your heart ❀ moment that I believe that both Ladies will cherish…

In regards to the actual match, our Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers pushed the visiting Knights into extra points before falling 26-24.

Morgan Osborne βš“ anchored the service line from 13-16 until 18-16 and Aubrey Hanshaw tied the set at 20-20 with an Ace – pictured above.

Scarlett Dalton landed an Ace to get Carroll County to set point at 24-23 but James River strung together three straight points to take the set, 26-24.

Carroll County trailed 12-6 when Paige Ogle and Hanshaw teamed up on a 4-0 run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ. The Lady Cavaliers capped their comeback when Osborne landed an Ace and Aaliyah Hampton finished up a point to make it 14-14.

James River closed out the match with an 11-2 run, making the final score 25-16.

Now the season is over and the eight Sophomores will work on their games in hoping πŸ™ to play on the Varsity team next year. The trio of Freshman and 8th graders have plenty of Volleyball 🏐 left in their futures !

Thank You Nikki Heflin and Thank You Shelia Harris for coaching up this group of youngsters ! Job Well Done !!!

Travis Osborne with his Bible Verse πŸ™ of the Day !

Romans 8:28Β And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This little character made an appearance late last night as we took a look at why leaving the Gym tonight will feel different.

Borrowing from Snagglepuss, tomorrow night πŸŒ™ it will be time to ” Exit stage Left ” as home Volleyball 🏐 matches come to an end…

Need to wish safe travels πŸ™ to Mr DeHaven today as his Athletic Director duties will take him away from The Hill.

Will close it out with the Junior Varsity players that have spent the past few months growing up under the watchful eyes πŸ‘€ of Nikki Heflin and Sheila Harris. This will be their final time together as a group this season as well.

Borrowing from Snagglepuss, tomorrow night πŸŒ™ it will be time to ” Exit stage Left ” as home Volleyball 🏐 matches come to an end…

Tomorrow night πŸŒ™ we welcome πŸ™ James River High School 🏫.to The Hill for a Junior Varsity and Varsity doubleheader. It will be the final time the Gymnasium will be used this fall so it will be the final time of holding the πŸŽ€πŸŽ™πŸŽ€ and trying to make the atmosphere everything it can be.

The theme for the night πŸŒ™ is Pink Out as October is Breast Cancer πŸŽ€ Awareness Month. It will also be the final time that Callie Harris, Brooke Webb and Corrie Delp play in the gym. Laiken Burnett will also be in the building for her farewell but her cast will limit her to a supportive role.

Each of the three seasons in the School year are as different as possible and then some. Fall is the one that mixes indoors and outside before everyone heads in for the Winter and then outside for the Spring.

Volleyball 🏐 will hopefully πŸ™ play one more match next week in the Regional tournament and our three Cross Country runners πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ will still race next week over in Axton at Smith River. Still a bit more writing ✍ to do but the announcing ends at match point.

The past few years with Cindy Edwards and her program has included a number of Student Athletes who have left their mark on the franchise that is Carroll County Volleyball.

Alyssa Ervin earned Three Rivers District Player of the Year and a quartet of Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers have went on to play at the next level. Two of the four Seniors this season have rewritten the CCHS record books πŸ“š!!

Burnett leaves The Hill as the All-Time leader in Assists and her classmate, Callie Harris became just the second member of the 1,000 Digs club.

This season included a trio of matches with Brittany Kinney and her Middle School team nine nights with the older players.

Nikki Heflin and Sheila Harris teamed up to fill the void created by the retirement of Jason Petty. Kayla Nester stepped into the role of Assistant Coach for Varsity as Maleah Neely stepped away to catch her breath. Kim Weddle rounds out the Varsity staff and Coach Kelly Holderfield assisted at the Middle School.

Add up all of the names of the Coaches and Players in the three levels of the program and you are looking at 60 young Ladies that performed until the watchful eyes πŸ‘€ of the ‘Ole Ball Coach “. Each night they did their best to represent Carroll County and know that if they didn’t, Coach Edwards was quick to tell them so.

Going back to the Seniors, they’re final stage is still months away and they have plenty left to accomplish. But when the final point is scored Thursday nightπŸŒ™ it will mark the end of an era where the home Gym is concerned.

Thanks for the Memories πŸ’˜!

Before our very eyes πŸ‘€., Half Pint and the Professor are All Grown Up now ! Callie Harris and Laiken Burnett now both reside in the Volleyball 1,000 Club…
