Both teams are set to play again on Friday evening on The Hill when Pulaski County comes to town – weather permitting. First Pitch is set for 5pm, and we will be celebrating Senior Night with Holly Miller !

Varsity scored in all seven innings while Junior Varsity won their game in a walkoff as CCHS sent a rope through the infield to score Molly Montgomery.

18 Hits for the Big Club – Raylee Goins led a heavy hitting attack by going 4 of 6 at the plate. Goins was joined in the multiple hit club by a slew of Lady Cavaliers, including Addie Greene with three and Bayleigh Allen, Madison Coleman, Natalie Burress and  Laynie-Jo Leonard all finishing up with two base knocks.

Burress collected five RBI, and Emma Harman was next with three driven home.  Holly Miller and Goins each helped two Lady Cavaliers find home plate.

Rounding out the equal opportunity offense was a trio of Cavaliers who scored three runs each. Miller, Laiken Burnett, and Coleman accounted for nine of the 17 runs scored.

Fort Chiswell did manage to pull within 6-5 with a four run rally in the bottom of the third inning, but Carroll County (1-1) ran off 11 unanswered to put the game away.

Back on The Hill, Ava Beamer was struck in the leg 🦡 with the second pitch of the game when Brenan Moore sent a line drive thru the circle. Beamer would shake it off and remain in the game, but the Pioneers would plate thre runs in the top of the first inning. Fortunately, Carroll County answered back with three of their own with Bree Campbell, Molly Montgomery, and Maeli Parker, each crossing home plate to tie the score at 3-3

The second inning was very similar to the first, with both teams posting a crooked number. Fort Chiswell plated four, but the Lady Cavaliers once again answered back. CCHS left the bases loaded in the second, and it appeared we were going to play a first team to 20 wins type of contest.

The pitchers and the defenses owned the middle innings as zeroes were posted in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Fort capitalized on consecutive singles in the top of the sixth to plate the go-ahead run, and they carried an 8-7 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.

Beamer led off with a shot back up the middle, but Jordan Tuck knocked it down, and then the short stop made the play 1-6-3. Ashlynn Smith coaxed a one out walk and scooted around the bases on two wild pitches. Campbell laid down a terrific bunt that turned into a bang – bang play at first base. The call was out, but Smith beat the throw home to tie it at 8-8.

Montgomery came to the plate with two outs and the bases empty. For the third time, Montgomery earned a base on balls, and Parker followed up with her second free pass.

Mylie Crook delivered once again when she made it to first for the fifth consecutive time. 2 hits, 2 walks, and one Hit by Pirtch were included in her perfect night !!

The game winning hit sent the crowd home when she hit a frozen rope that plated Montgomery with the walk-off run. Parker rounded the bases as well, but the game ended with the winning run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. There was some confusion about 9-8 or 10-8, but the correct answer is 9-8.

Hailey Dalton went home 🏑 with our Goodie Bag πŸŽ’ of prizes as we finished up with 14 foul balls. It’s amazing that one of the 14 went through the fence versus over it.

Quick reset – Varsity wins πŸ†, Junior Varsity wins in a walkoff, Hailey Dalton left with the goods, and we will do it all again on Friday – weather permitting.
