I promise that this is the Final Thursday Post πŸ“« but we have completed the details and are ready to pass out the Invitations to our Track πŸ‘£ and Field celebration on Wednesday afternoon, March 18th !!!

Where : Tommy Thompson Field

When : Photo πŸ“· Shoot at 3 :45 pm, Track Meet begins at 4 :30

Cost : NONE

What are we celebrating : A number of things, including the lone Home meet for the Carroll County High School Boys and Girls Track Meet !

This will be the only time that our recently purchased High Jump area will be used in a competition. Naturally, we want to invite everyone who helped make that happen.

After next Wednesday, the next time these Student Athletes will appear at Tommy Thompson Field is Senior Day at one of the Soccer matches for their version of Senior Day.

Dakota Walls Racing 🏎 is kind enough to provide the CCHS Sophomore’s Race 🏁 Car for the Poster Photo πŸ“·

Dakota Walls this past September 13th at Cavalier Park.
Dakota Walls and our Lady Cavalier Volleyball 🏐 team two years ago.

Both of those Photos πŸ“· were taken by Mrs Velvet Leonard with this year Mr Craig Worrell handling the camera !

The Photo will be turned into a poster used to promote the Track and Field teams as well as Dakota Walls Racing.

We look forward to working  with Mr Ron Cochran at Omega Office 🏒 once we have the photo from Mr Worrell.

It’s not very often that your opening day doubles as your last home appearance.

The Cavalier Track meet will be worked by members of the Middle School team and they will be included in the Photo. Not sure if Coach Montgomery will follow the lead of Volleyball Coach Cindy Edwards and pop on the helmet  but we are looking forward to seeing…

We are excited about the opportunity to celebrate both versions of our Cavaliers that like to go Fast around a Track !

The Car πŸš— will be there until 4:30 and I will be there until its time to cross the Boulevard to announce the Softball game. The Track and Field teams will be there just this one time this Spring !

Now that I think about it, the Helmet ⛑️ would look good on Tammy Quesenberry, right ?

Like every other Party πŸ₯³ ever planned, there is always that one guest nobody really wants there but there is nothing you can do about it.

Mother Nature gets the final say in the Day…

15 hours of creating stories will come to an end but we will leave you with a Stuart Scott Tribute : The Lady Wasps LaCrosse team must be Butter 🧈 because they are on a Roll !

Emory & Henry – Natalie Harris and her E & H teammates finished up their back to back matches with another victory, this time fending off Edinboro in a back and forth affair.

The team improves to 3-5 overall and 2-0 since Harris returned to the lineup !

The Wasps will take a short break and then head down to the Cumberland Gap next Wednesday for a contest with Lincoln Memorial University.

Lighting the Lamp nine times had to be entertaining !

Thank You to Marion Harris for taking the time to share your quality time with one of your impressive young Ladies !

Godspeed on your journey back up I-81

Today was the very rare day where I played catch-up and it was possible to do that because it was a ” Rest Day “. Try telling my keypad that one.

Apologies to our email πŸ“§ subscribers πŸ™ because of the amount of stories in one day.

Time to truly rest on Rest Day because its back to West Virginia in the morning πŸŒ„.

Over the next 3 Days we will attempt to capture all 12 State Championship games and share them in this one Post πŸ“«

This one is personal as it’s where I started High School back in the late 1970’s
Day 1 of 3 is in the Books πŸ“š!
Graham wins Class 2 Boys
6 down, 6 to go….
Galax Girls πŸ‘§ Basketball πŸ€ earn 1st State Title

Luray 84, Fort Chiswell 82 in 2OT !!!

Manor Girls…..
Handley Judges from Winchester
Petersburg over Lake Taylor

That should be all 12 !

Let’s call πŸ“ž this one : Ten Good Minutes with Anthony Barnes, Isaiah Easter and Blake Reed !

Head Coach Anthony Barnes and Middle School Coach Darian Brown

A few days ago the Three Rivers District announced their First Team and Second Team selections and some impressive looking graphics were seen bouncing around. It would have been easy enough to grab a copy of one of them, crop it and slap it on the page, then call it a day.

Sadly enough, taking the easy way out doesn’t benefit the program that Coach Anthony Barnes pours his heart and soul into.

My goal is to support any Coach on The Hill that cares about his or her Student Athletes. Barnes certainly βœ”s that Box πŸ“¦.

What would it take to package something that would sparkle in the eyes πŸ‘€ of the readers and the future Cavaliers ?

Here’s what it would look like :

Ten questions total and I would ask both Mother ( Vickie Easter and Samantha Reed) to submit their favorite photo of their Son, at any age.

Here’s the 10 Questions, that we would ask and let the players answer βž• ones for Coach Barnes.

Isaiah Easter – congratulations on being named First Team All – District. Do you have a favorite memory from your journey from an undersized Freshman who was called up at the end of the season until the end ?

Isaiah Easter – if you could go back in time and talk to yourself as an 8th grader about playing Basketball for Anthony Barnes, what would you say ?

Isaiah Easter – final question for you. If you were given five minutes with an AAU player or Middle School player about what it means to have Carroll County High School on your chest, what would you say to them ?

Anthony Barnes – you Coached Easter on Varsity now across four years, what part of his growing up has impressed you the most ?

Follow up for Coach – if your phone rang and it was a College coach inquiring about Easter, what would you say ?

Blake Reed – Congratulations on making the second team All – District.

Blake – what would you say was the biggest adjustment this year as you went from Junior Varsity to Varsity ?

Blake – you played this season as the Robin to Easter’s Batman, what did you take away from his leadership on and off the court ?

Final question Blake – do you believe that you have the confidence to be a team leader next year and if so, what do you see as the key πŸ”‘ to doing so ?

Coach Barnes – each season you say goodbye to a group of Seniors that gave you everything they have. Tell us what was special about this group ?

Final question for Coach – if you had one thought process that you could stamp into the minds of the returning players, what would it be ?

Wow, it would be easy enough to just move forward from this season but Coach isn’t looking for the easy way out.

Whether we can create the moment or not will be seen soon enough. If not, we do have a slick graphic !
