Houston, we have a problem…but its not with your 1,2 Baseball punch! Separated by just 23 miles, the Astros and Space Cowboys 🀠 share our Countrys fourth largest city…

23 miles is all that separates Constellation Field, home of the AAA Sugar Land Space Cowboys and the Astros MLB stadium 🏟.

When you finally get ” The Call πŸ“ž ” to the Show ” its a local call. Seattle and Tacoma have a similar situation out in the Pacific Northwest.

Getting to Round Rock, Texas earlier today completed the Class AAA Baseball ⚾️ Loop and the goal now for me is to not create any more Loops !!!

The AAA trek absolutely happened by accident over the years, until the past few weeks. Albuquerque, El Paso, Salt Lake City, Sugar Land and Round Rock were the remaining ones. Easy enough to finish off.

Softball is a more enjoyable watch for me but there’s something about the individualality ( not sure if that’s a real word) of the Baseball parks, at all levels.

MLB, AAA and four of the Class A leagues are among the 100+ ball parks that I’ve attended and each one is different from the previous ones.

Round Rock, home 🏑 of the Nolan Ryan Express.
Albuquerque, New Mexico
El Paso wins the Award for most original ways to feed their Fans !

In a few hours it will be an Early Bird 🐦 flight ✈️ out of Houston, 5am departure might be way to early Bird….

A quick stop βœ‹ over at Duke University and an important trip to The Hill on Thursday morning πŸŒ„.

Cool 😎 Scoreboard, rivals the one they have in Nashville…

Some of the Treks :

ACC Basketball πŸ€ arenas

ACC Football Stadiums 🏟

Major League and AAA Baseball ⚾️

All 41 NCAA Football 🏈 games

61 years of Duke University Football Bowl 🏈 games – easier than you think being there has only been 11.

Every golf β›³ course in the Old Dominon, playing each that I could talk my way on to.

Visiting all 50 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² States in the same calendar πŸ“… year.

WNBA arenas

Each college in the Commonwealth where Basketball πŸ€ is played.

Proof of that one, which was actually enjoyable !

It’s time to collect the final 7,000 steps πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ needed to keep the streak of 20K everyday going so its a great stopping point.

Coach Pollard left Duke University for Hoosville last week, naturally his Staff went with him,  βž• some current players and some Blue Devils in waiting….

https://augustafreepress.com/news/uva-baseball-coach-chris-pollard-finalizes-his-new-coaching-staff/

Mississippi State University pilfered the University of Virginia Baseball program, then UVA did the same to Duke University and now we wait to see how Duke rebounds. Hopefully they can break the trend of hiring a current Head Coach that will trigger a complete rebuild.

Β  Mississippi State is in a better position now to challenge for a Natty. Virginia is in a better position to play on as Big of a stage that the Atlantic Coast Conference. Duke is the next domino in this process.

Pollard left Appalachian State University for the opportunity to work his magic on a bigger stage. Coach put Duke on the baseball map but it wasn’t a quick fix as it took the better part of a decade.

Carla Williams, Athletic Director at UVA, did her job and then some by replacing a Icon of the game with a proven commodity in Pollard. Now its time for her Duke counterpart to do the same.

Things like this happen all the time in College Football with the most recent Big Time example was when Nick Saban retired from Alabama. The Crimson Tide plucked their next Head Coach from the Washington Huskies. UW had just fell to Michigan in the National Championship game but was forced into a near complete rebuild by the time the final domino fell.

Welcome πŸ™ to the world 🌎 of Big Time College sports, it’s here to stay. But if you are a fan of College Baseball ⚾️, which I am, its a good thing to be on the front page of the Business section of the NCAA.

Opening Day for our Golden Bears 🐻 Baseball ⚾️ team is right around the corner ! February Baseball…

Year #17 @ WVU-T!

Β

Β P R E S S Β  R E L E A S E :

The WVU Institute of Technology Baseball Team is excited to release its 2025 schedule.  After closing the 2024 season with a 29-22 record and finishing in the semi-finals of the River States Conference Tournament, the Golden Bears will open the 48-game season.  On February 7-8th, the season kicks off with a four-game series in Johnson City, TN.  The Golden Bears will be facing three 2025 NAIA top 35 ranked teams, highlighted with the fourth game against Cumberland (KY) which qualified for the 2024 NAIA National World Series. Cumberland is ranked #5 in the pre-season NAIA National Poll.

The Golden Bears are hosting 26 home games at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley, WV and one home game at GoMart Park in Charleston, WV.  The first home games are scheduled for February 15-16th, a four-game series, in Beckley against Lourdes University (OH).

The team will open a 24-game River States Conference regular season on February 28th at Midway University in Lexington, KY.  The nine-team conference schedule will conclude with the final weekend of the season on April 25-26th against IU Southeast with Senior Day Recognition held on Saturday, the 26th.  IU Southeast will be the third ’24 World Series qualifier that the Golden Bears will face this season.  They are ranked #17 in the pre-season NAIA National Poll.

April 11-13th, the Golden Bears will be hosting a unique mid-season, three team non-conference series.  Fisher College from Boston, MA and Georgia Gwinnett from Atlanta will visit Beckley, WV.  Gwinnett is another ’24 NAIA World Series qualifier and #3 ranked pre-season NAIA National Poll.

Lawrence Nesselrodt enters his 17th season as a Head Coach at WVU Tech.  His career has totaled 34 years as a head coach and 8 years as an assistant coach at the collegiate level. Legendary Joe Goddard is in his 8th season as an assistant coach at WVU Tech, with an impressive track record of 45 years of coaching. Prior to his coaching career Joe was a Hall of Fame player for Marshall University, then extended his career for 6 years of professional baseball with the San Diego Padres. They have decided to take a former player under their wing, Isaac Wengert in his 2nd season as the pitching coach, who was an outstanding pitcher for the Golden Bears.
