Social Studies Teacher
Carroll County High School

I purposely leave Social Studies Teacher on the results because Coach has 23 or so titles, and I respect all of them! Fellow Coach,  Jon Delp is way cool 😎 as well !

Congratulations to the team and the coaches !

Thursday will be the Varsity Boys 👦 and Girls 👧 competing !

(Next to)Last one of the night as midnight edges closer and closer….. Boys 👦 Tennis was once again on our side of the Boulevard today. I had to add next to because at 11:15, our favorite Track and Field Coach just sent in the Middle School results !

Coach McGuire and his band of dedicated Tennis 🎾 players were forced to huddle up under the shelter during the afternoon lightning 🌩 delay. This made for a fun team pic 📸 on my way to the Softball press box.

I know that their match ended just before the rain started again, just past seven pm.

This young man is focused and going places ! We will eventually get him talking about his goals and his Student Athletes. Hope the match went well !

Next up : Varsity Softball made a rare trip over to Chilhowie, and thanks to Coach Nester, Tammy Quesenberry, Donna Nester, and Velvet Leonard, I can tell you a bit about it !  Warriors 7, Lady Cavaliers 3.

First Five from Velvet Leonard
Two from Donna Nester

This year, we appear to have considerably more nights 🌙 where we play ➗️ and conquer with regard to JV Softball and Varsity Softball. That was the case once again tonight as I stayed at Cavalier Park with the younger ones while Coach took the big kiddos on a road trip.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 4-0 lead at home, and while the Lady Cavaliers played them even after the opening inning, they just couldn’t close the gap.

Carroll County went hit for hit with Chilhowie as both teams reached double figures in that column. The difference between the two teams was the timing of the key 🔑 swings.

Addie Greene led the offensive production by collecting three hits in her four at bats, including a double. Both Natalie Burress and Raylee Goins joined Greene in the multiple hit club. Brooke Webb collected the other extra base hit with a double and became one of three Lady Cavaliers to reach home plate.

As the Junior Varsity team did the last two nights with an away game at Tazewell followed by a home game, the Varsity team will now go from a night at Chilhowie to a night at Patrick County.

As I typed that, I just realized that the JV will pull off a Trifecta as they will play a third straight game, joining the Varsity over in Stuart tomorrow night 🌙.

The players are young, so my concern will be for the parents holding up to working all day and watching ball that night. In my head, I hear 10CC singing the things we do for love ❤️

Coach Nester will share some thoughts in the morning 🌄 and I will circle 🔵 back and add them here.

Tomorrow night 🌙 will be exciting as we are set to host coaches Nick & Deana and the Middle School Lady Cavaliers !

Have a great night 🌙 and Thanks to all that helped with this one !

Don’t be alarmed if you hear a bit of commotion in the wee hours. It’s just our Patricia Lineberry loading up a charter bus for the trip to the Big Apple 🍎. Lucky for us that our main Man 👨 Marion Harris will be able to provide us with the highlights, assuming that he wakes ⏰️ up on time ! Exciting time for some incredibly talented Cavaliers !!!

Godspeed on the journey 🙏 and here’s hoping for the time of your lives !

Our soccer ⚽️ programs had an interesting night on The Pitch, and we simply have to lead off with Forrest Johnson and his tribute to the late Gustavo Munoz

The well written letter created by Forrest, and I added a bit here and there in hopes that the message could ring with sincerity for the Family.

The ceremony took place just before 7:00 pm, and it was wonderful to see so many family members in attendance for the moment. Let’s add a nod to the folks from Patrick County as they were both respectful and patient. I hope that the message was soothing to those it was intended for, and I considered it an honor to be the one trying to have my voice reflect what this young man meant to Coach Johnson and his program.

Prior to the ceremony, Jeremy Puckett and his JV Cavaliers pitched a 2-0 shutout with the goals belonging to Alex Esquivel and Christian Solis-Ruiz.

Congratulations to Coach Puckett and his crew !

The Boys 👦 Varsity game was first interrupted by rain at 7:11 and then halted by the first sight of lightning 🌩 seven minutes later. Roughly 24 minutes of game time was played, and Carroll County was leading 1-0 at the time.

The scoring play was started by Evan Conner with a direct kick that found Christian Cruz, who then fed the ball to Aiden Puckett. The Junior then put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 and my booth partner for the night, Hez Mejia, nailed the call on the goal.

After almost an hour, the decision was made to postpone the game until tomorrow night with a restart time to be determined.

The Varsity Girls contest over at Patrick County High School stopped ✋️ in a similar fashion with the teams still tied, Nil – Nil. The decision on when to resume the match is still to be determined.

That leaves us Brittany Kinney and our Girls JV. Their match with the Cougars was played prior to the varsity match, and once we know that result, we will circle 🔵 back to add it here.
